The Department of Natural Resources is seeking to fill one (1) full-time General Repair Worker position in Hinckley, Minnesota. Days of work are Monday - Friday, and hours of work are 7:00am - 3:30pm. This position exists to assist Park Management Staff in maintaining and directing the operations of St. Croix State Park, and to perform the daily activities involved with facility repairs, development, and maintenance at the park. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Perform road, trail and groundwork projects in the park to insure a safe and aesthetically pleasing park environment while protecting the resources. + Perform and oversee vegetation management, removal of hazard tree, and shade tree maintenance to provide safe and aesthetically pleasing park environment while protecting the resources. + Building and utility maintenance as needed so that buildings are safe, properly maintained and attractive. + Routine inspections and repairs on equipment so that it is in safe operating condition. + Represent State Parks and DNR by providing information to the public so that user needs are met. **Minimum Qualifications** + Position requires a Class A license, passing a pre-employment drug screen and participation in the DNR ongoing random screening program. Qualified applicants who do not have a valid Class A will be allowed up to 6 months to acquire one, as a condition of employment. AND + Experience performing semi-skilled work in at least 2 of the trade areas listed above for building maintenance/repair (i.e. carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, log construction), utility systems operation/repair, heating/ ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) system operation/maintenance and equipment operation/maintenance. + Ability to safely operate and maintain a variety of small, medium and heavy motorized equipment including dump trucks, trailers, tractors with loader, watercraft, skid steers, backhoes, plus power and hand tools, including chainsaws, air compressors, carpentry tools, and other equipment/tools as assigned. + Ability to service and make minor repairs to machinery, equipment, and buildings. + Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish priorities and make appropriate decisions. + Basic knowledge of occupational hazards, safety requirements and the types of personal protective equipment appropriate to carry out tasks. + Ability to follow written and oral instructions. + Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment, power tools and hand tools. **Preferred Qualifications** + Current Class A driver's license. + Experience maintaining roads and/or trails with heavy equipment. + Experience performing semi-skilled work in trade areas (i.e. carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, roofing, HVAC system operation/maintenance). + Experience with small engine maintenance and repair. + Knowledge of state and local codes sufficient to collaborate on design and implementation of development and maintenance projects on buildings and facilities. + Knowledge of proper building maintenance procedures. **Additional Requirements** This position requires current possession of a valid Class A license or the ability to obtain one in the first 6 months of employment. The selected applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be included in the ongoing DNR random drug and alcohol test program.
