General Manager Jazz Bar
**Description:** **Position Title: General Manager Jazz Bar** **Reports To: Assistant Director of Food & Beverage** **Responsibilities:** The high-end jazz bar located in beautiful Baha Mar is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a General Manager. This key leadership role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the jazz bar's operations, ensuring a refined and luxurious experience for guests while maximizing profitability. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the jazz bar's goals and objectives. Identify areas for growth and improvement, and implement strategies to enhance the venue's reputation and profitability. Operations Management: Oversee all operational aspects of the jazz bar, including staff management, scheduling, inventory control, programming management, and productivity. Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost control measures to optimize profitability. Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to make informed business decisions. Guest Experience: Ensure exceptional service standards are maintained, providing a memorable and personalized experience for guests. Foster a customer-centric culture among staff and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty. Talent Management: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of staff members. Set performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback and coaching, and recognize and reward outstanding performance. Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the Hyatt and Baha Mar marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing strategies to attract and retain a loyal customer base while capturing consistent hotel guest traffic . Utilize various marketing channels including local newspaper, radio, social media, and networking events to promote the jazz bar and its unique offerings. Vendor and Supplier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality products and services. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations to proactively address any potential issues. **Administration:** o To prepare and update the Outlet’s Departmental Operations Manuals. o To attend weekly Food and Beverage and Department Head Meetings, as scheduled. o To conduct pre-shift briefings and regular communications meetings, ensuring that they are effective and conducted as necessary. o To maintain and utilize other departmental and employee communications channels, e.g. notice boards, log books, handover reports, etc. o To provide the Materials Department with detailed product specifications for items used in the outlet. **Customer Service:** o To ensure that all employees in the outlet deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional guest service at all times. o To ensure that outlet employees also provide excellent service to internal customers as appropriate. o To handle all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily. **Financial:** o To ensure that the monthly forecasted food and beverage revenues are achieved. o To proactively manage all costs. o To maximize employee productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling in order to meet the financial goals of the outlet as well as the expectations of the guests. o To assist in the preparation of the Annual Business Plan and the monthly reforecast of revenues and expenses. o To assist in the maintenance of the outlet point-of-sales system. o To ensure that all sales are properly recorded, following prescribed procedures for issuing, voiding or correcting outlet checks. o To oversee the proper use and security of cashier/ waiter/ waitress floats o To assist in the inventory management and ongoing maintenance of hotel operating equipment and other assets, including establishing par stocks, equipment care and maintenance and inventory taking as required. **Marketing:** o To constantly evaluate local, national and international market trends, vendors and other hotel/restaurant operations to make sure that the hotel’s own operations remain competitive and cutting edge. o To look for Marketing and Public Relations opportunities to increase awareness and ultimately business. o To review and analyze the weekly/monthly Menu Sales Analysis in order to recommend changes to the menu mix and engineer the menu for greater profitability and customer satisfaction. o To implement a guest recognition programme and maintain a guest history programme. o To assist in the implementation (where appropriate) of marketing programmes, including frequent-dining programmes. **Operational:** o To establish the service standards for the outlet, overseeing the consistent implementation of the service standards and training the employees as necessary. o To monitor all outlet operations, especially during peak business periods, assisting and making adjustments where necessary. o To ensure that all company minimum brand standards have been implemented, and that optional brand standards have been implemented where appropriate. o To make sure that all Touches of Hyatt and the Food and Beverage Top 20 are implemented. o To respond to the results of the Consumer Audit and to ensure that the relevant changes are implemented. o To work closely with other management personnel in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests. o To make sure that outlet employees work in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments, in a spirit of “We work through Teams”. o To taste and monitor the food products served, providing feedback where appropriate. o To develop an outstanding beverage selection that is competitive in the local marketplace and includes: coffees and teas; alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; and in interesting wine programme. o To work closely with the Stewarding Manager to ensure that operating equipment is cared for to maximize its useful life and to minimize breakage. o To work with the Director of Engineering and Housekeeping Manager to ensure that the outlet is clean, properly maintained and cared for. **Personnel:** o To assist in the recruitment and selection of outlet employees. To follow hotel guidelines when recruiting and use a competency-based approach to selecting employees. o To oversee the punctuality and appearance of outlet employees, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards. o To maximize the effectiveness of outlet employees by developing each of their skills and abilities through the appropriate training, coaching, and/ or mentoring. o To conduct annual Performance Development Discussions with employees. o To implement effective training programs for employees in coordination with the Training Manager and the outlet’s Departmental Trainers. o To prepare and post weekly work schedules for outlet employees, making sure that they reflect business needs and other key performance indicators. o To encourage employees to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognizing them for their contribution to the success of the operation. o To support the implementation of The People Philosophy, demonstrating and reinforcing Hyatt’s Values and Culture Characteristics. o To ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to employee rules and regulations. o To ensure that employees follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security. o To feedback the results of the Employee Engagement Survey and to ensure that the relevant changes are implemented. o To ensure that the annual vacation plan is in line with the division’s strategy and to ensure that all bureaucratic paper work matters are completed on time and handed in to the relevant support divisions. Key Responsibilities **Other Duties:** o To maintain strong, professional relationships with the relevant representatives from competitor hotels and other organizations. o To respond to changes in the Food and Beverage function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel. o To read the hotel's Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety. o To attend training sessions and meetings as and when required. o To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned. **Qualifications:** - Previous experience in a senior management role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a high-end bar or restaurant setting. - Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. - Excellent financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control. - Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for delivering a refined and luxurious guest experience. - Strong business acumen and the ability to drive revenue growth and profitability. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Knowledge of jazz music and the ability to curate a diverse lineup of artists is desirable. - Familiarity with marketing strategies and techniques. - Previous experience in a senior management role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a high-end bar or restaurant setting. - Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. - Excellent financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control. - Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for delivering a refined and luxurious guest experience. - Strong business acumen and the ability to drive revenue growth and profitability.
