Section Head Domestic Coal Transportation

Coal Transportation Strategy and Execution:

Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize coal logistics, ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery.

Plan and manage large-scale coal transportation schedules, accounting for seasonal demands and regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards during coal transportation.

Vendor and Contract Management:

Lead vendor selection and contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and reliability in coal transportation.

Oversee vendor performance, regularly reviewing KPIs and addressing any issues impacting service quality.

Establish long-term partnerships with key suppliers to ensure sustained support for transportation needs.

Stakeholder Coordination and Support:

Coordinate with internal departments (finance, accounting, operations) to facilitate smooth transportation and tracking of coal.

Provide regular updates to management on coal movement status, cost considerations, and operational challenges.

Engage with external partners, including transportation agencies, customs officials, and regulatory bodies, to resolve any transportation-related issues.

Financial and Budget Oversight:

Prepare and monitor transportation budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.

Track transportation costs and work with finance teams to ensure timely payments and cost allocation.

Implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability within the transportation function.

Process Improvement and Compliance:

Lead initiatives to streamline transportation processes, improving efficiency and minimizing delays.

Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards in all transportation activities.

Stay updated on transportation regulations and implement changes as necessary to maintain compliance.

People and Team Engagement:

Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the maintenance team.

Drive and enhance employee engagement and retention across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross skilling through job rotation, technical and behavioral trainings.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field; Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.

Work Experience (Range of years):

At least 12+ years in coal or bulk commodity transportation, logistics, or supply chain management along with prior experience in a leadership role with responsibilities in large-scale logistics or transportation operations.

Preferred Industry:

Power or energy sector, mining, logistics companies specializing in bulk transport, or supply chain management firms.
