General Manager will include allocating budget resources, formulating policies, coordinating business operations, monitoring and motivating staff, managing operational costs, ensuring good customer service, improving administration processes, engaging with vendors, hiring and training employees.
Primary Duties
Project a positive image of Smurfit Kappa, and offer leadership with a positive attitude that reflects genuine friendliness and concern to the employeesManage the day to day operations by directing and coordinating all phases of operation including making profits acceptable to corporate managementIncrease effectiveness and efficiency of operations through improvements as well as coordination and communication between departmentsWorking knowledge of profit and loss statements and estimatingMaintain a working knowledge of federal and state labor lawsReview performance of all areas including sales, production and administrationAssist VP-Packaging in planning for capital equipment and increase of plant personnelMake or maintain measurable efforts toward achieving a management and overall workforce that is diverse in ethnicity and gender, the goal being representative of the larger community in which we are locatedAbide by all laws -- federal, state and local -- in conducting personal and professional dutiesAct ethically and responsibly in handling all company matters, especially those in which confidentiality is requiredImplement, maintain, and support all company policies and proceduresPersonally tours operations and talks face to face with their staff about safety performance and concerns. Provides prompt, honest feedback on safety concerns raised by the workforce, and implements viable corrective actions. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.Additional duties assigned by managementJob Qualifications
Minimum ten years' supervisory experience as a proven manager, or applicable education and experienceMinimum ten years' sales/production manufacturing/financial experienceMust be a self-starter to the effect he/she must initiate, assign, and follow through to completion of various tasksHave a vision that sees a healthy, vital growing company that is a leader in all positive ways that are practicalExcellent communication skills, including verbal and written, preferredCollege degree, preferredTen years or more experience in the corrugated box industry (including production, sales and finance.) preferred Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
