Fueled by the support of our parent company, Cox Farms/Cox Enterprises, BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms. We’ve recently commissioned three state-of-the-art, fully automated gutter farms within our network of six indoor greenhouses. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 4,500 retail stores across the East Coast, Midwest and South.
Our Macon, Georgia farm is the most advanced greenhouse in the state, delivering fresh, locally grown leafy greens to Georgians. Spanning nearly 480,000 square feet, this facility will produce approximately 6 million pounds of leafy greens annually.
Specifically, you will:
Lead, drive and support your team to achieve greenhouse business goals, foster a culture of commitment to the BrightFarms' ethos Oversee all facets associated with the farm, both direct and indirect including production, growing, Food Safety, Quality and people safetyEnsure utmost employee and food safety, alongside efficient order fulfillment, and revenue managementImplement production strategies, manage labor, balance resources, and ensure seamless facility maintenance Support and contribute to our ambition of becoming a lean organization, fostering and educating to achieve a culture of continuous improvement Translate objectives into actionable plans for the local team, ensuring effective execution Maintain an immaculate, safe, and inviting greenhouse environment Develop and guide the greenhouse management team, ensuring alignment with BrightFarms’ vision Oversee supply chain and logistics intricacies of the greenhouse Address and mitigate challenges to production goals, anticipating potential issues
Ideal Candidate:
10-15 years in manufacturing, distribution, or agriculture/processing (experience in a perishable food business with a value-added function, such as cutting fruits/vegetables, processing fruits/vegetables, re-packing, desirable, though not a requirement)Proven success and growth in start-up and scale-up sitesYou are a natural problem solver and see challenges as an exciting opportunity to use your skill and resources to create a breakthroughDemonstrable history of achieving ambitious targets while optimizing spend and quality You are a blue-collar executive meaning that you strategic and forward thinking while valuing time on the floor “turning wrenches” as a critical part of knowing and running your site. Innate leadership qualities, coupled with a knack for inspiring, motivating, and developing teams, driving engagement and tenure to ensure operation stabilityAbility to forge cross-functional relationships and drive outcomes through collaboration Familiarity and experience using Lean Business Operations tools like standard work, 5-S, visual management, and root-cause analysis A desire to be accountable and drive successful outcomes at the farm.
