Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is now looking for a General Manager to lead A&C’s new System Services Tribe from all aspects end to end. In A&C we develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wärtsilä engines.

We are looking for a General Manager, System Services. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Turku, or Helsinki, Finland. We also offer possibilities for hybrid work.

Your role and responsibilities 

 

Responsible of A&C's System Services line management. Line Manager of A&C’s System Services team, a new team to be formed as part of our organization and operations restructuring. Define, develop and manage end to end A&C System Services competencies and capabilities. Develop, deploy and manage System Services team KPIs to measure team’s performance in their operations. Identify development areas in the System Services competencies and capabilities together with A&C’s Development Operations, Product Management and other Line Management leaders. Propose solutions to A&C MT to develop System Services competencies and capabilities. Responsible of deployment of these changes to System Services team. Responsible of development and deployment engine automation R&D infrastructure capabilities. Ensure capability to deliver according to stakeholders’ requests in own area. Conduct seamless communication and teamwork in own team, with other teams, and towards stakeholders. Development and deployment best practices in daily work using A&C development and deployment infrastructure, active development of these capabilities using Wartsila Continuous Improvement practises. Team activities and larger events spanning the bigger organization. Active member of A&C Management Team. Driving A&C’s vision, strategy, roadmaps, plans and implementation as part of A&C Management Team. You will be member of the A&C’s Management Team.

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

 

At least five years’ experience as a developer or expert in software development or as a DevOps engineer/developer. At least five years’ line management experience preferably in embedded software R&D and/or DevOps. At least five years’ experience in leading line organization budgeting: planning, reporting, maintaining. Understanding of and at least three years’ hands on experience from embedded systems’ development as a developer and/or DevOps engineer in agile environment. Proven good skills in stakeholder management Experience in working according to Wartsila Continuous Improvement or other Continuous Improvement framework. At least three years’ experience working in an organisation according to LeSS or SAFe. Fluent communication skills in English Understanding of Wartsila Engine products is a plus. Good understanding of Wartsila Engine Businesses is a big benefit. Experience coaching leadership and proven team and individual coaching skills and at least five years’ experience in coaching experts and managers. Understanding of automation’s role in manufacturing, energy or process industry, preferably having working experience in some of the above-mentioned industries. Master’s degree from Automation, Computer Science or other applicable area Extensive facilitation skills Curiosity to learn new things and continuously improve way of working
