General Equipment Mechanic II
Amentum is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician II for our facility operations & maintenance team­­­­­­­­­­­­ in Pontiac, Illinois + Typical work schedule is Alternating Work Schedule 7:00 am-3:30pm M-F. Responsibilities: + Under general supervision, perform tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity. + Performs basic troubleshooting, maintenance and minor repair of low voltage lighting systems and electrical equipment such as switch gear, disconnects, faulty breakers, hoists and overhead cranes. + Performs basic electrical repairs to switches, outlets, and lighting ballasts and facilities equipment. + Performs inspections, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc. + Safely operates facility equipment including but not limited to, Steam Boilers, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, treatment systems, heat exchangers, HVAC systems and hanging steam heaters, cranes and hoists. + Make rounds to document system pressures, temperatures, and equipment statuses. + Will provide lite plumbing services under the direction of a certified plumber. + Replace lamps and repairs lighting systems. + Operates aerial and platform lifts. + Reads and understands schematics, diagrams, and specifications. + Demonstrates solid understanding of Lock Out Tag Out practices and procedures. + Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. + Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines the nature of problem, and recommends appropriate solutions. + Assured code and building standards are met. + Performs repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems. + Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility systems. + Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules. + Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc.). + Assists in the movement of furniture, materials, and equipment as required. + Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. + Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested. Additional Information: + Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. + This position may require a valid Driver’s License. + This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. Physical Requirements: + Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs. + Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift. + Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift. + Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift. + Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift. + Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift. + Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift. + Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife. + Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding. + Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement. + Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. Special Requirements: + Wear steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed. + Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with a CMMS or Maintenance Management System (i.e., Maximo, MP2, etc.) NFPA-70E training preferred. + Experience operating Fork Truck. Other Attributes: + Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends. **Minimum Requirements:** + High School graduate or demonstrated equivalent. 2 years of work experience.
