Primary Purpose Technical expert that will be providing technical direction and providing feedback based on emergent outage situations and power system needs. Provide analytical support and provide recommendations to the Company (other business units and/or customers) as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, or facilities. The DFE position will also perform oversight and governance for specific critical facilities. Support contingency planning and facilitate lessons learned protocol. Support project and regional customer council meetings and develop recommended improvements around reliability. Facilitate yearly reviews of this process to drive continuous improvements *** This role is supporting the entire ComEd territory and primarily working in the field supporting multiple reporting centers. Company vehicle will be provided for this role. Primary Duties Provide Technical support on the transmission and Distribution system as required. This may include evaluating testing as requested to determine the acceptance of electrical system components (such as cables, transformers, cap banks regulators, etc.). Providing technical guidance to regarding the set-up and proper operation of the ComEd emergency generators. Providing engineering recommendations determining industrial and commercial power quality situations, performing sound evaluations, responding to EMF concerns, addressing operational impacts of the distribution power system (or customer systems) and then performing evaluations from the information obtained from the afore mentioned activities to formulate recommendations based on the data evaluation to provide to the appropriate engineering organizations to rectify any ComEd caused situations. Job Scope Influences project decisions having a moderate impact on the company that may include leading employees or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment to be placed On System. Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications 4-7 years of professional engineering experience. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices. Knowledge of complex field test equipment. Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles necessary to perform very complex or unique assignments. Minimum of two related career experiences (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR Engineer in Training OR 50% complete (by hours) with advanced technical degree, M.B.A. or Project Management Certification Master's degree in engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year. License must be issued by the state in which you are practicing. PE License reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year. (4) Career related experiences is defined as changes in technical job responsibilities and does not have to include a change in department Note: Items (1) and (3) are mutually inclusive, whereby the maximum experience requirement reduction is one(1) year (e.g., in the case of an employee with both a master's degree in Engineering AND a PE license, the minimum experience requirement would be reduced by one (1) year). Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification Licensed Professional Engineer Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels.
