Position Overview:
We're seeking Motors/Gearbox Assembly Technicians to build, overhaul, and rebuild locomotive motors and gear systems. In this hands-on role, you’ll disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble components following technical drawings and guidelines to meet product specifications and quality standards. You'll also inspect and fine-tune completed motors to ensure they meet tolerances and customer requirements. We’re excited to support your growth with a clear training and development plan from the very beginning.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:30am – 5:00pm
What your day-to-day will look like:
+ Attach gearbox housing and couplings to build stand.
+ Install gears, bearings, housings, spacers, covers, and various fasteners.
+ Measure clearances using precision instruments (depth gauge, caliper, micrometer).
+ Demount gearbox from build stand.
+ Inspect, test, and adjust units to meet specifications and customer requirements.
+ Assemble, position, align, and fasten parts to assemblies or frames; disassemble as needed.
+ Attach name plates and mark identifying information.
+ Measure parts for tolerances and inspect for defects using precision instruments.
+ Align, fit, or assemble components using hand or power tools.
+ Verify part dimensions and clearances.
+ Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
+ Explain assembly procedures to other workers.
+ Clean work areas and parts; inventory tools.
+ Drill or tap holes in specified locations.
+ Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities.
+ Conduct 6S audits and safety walks.
+ Participate in work groups to optimize processes and workflows.
To thrive in this role, you have:
+ HS diploma or equivalent
+ 3+ years experience assembly production or similar role
+ Extensive experience with electromechanical assembly
+ Extensive Wiring experience
+ Direct assembly experience reading and interpreting schematic drawings
+ Siemens gearbox assembly experience
+ Must be able to read complex schematics
+ Ability to physically lift 35 pounds
+ Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, speak, write)
+ Ability to collaborate successfully in a team-oriented environment
+ Ability to learn and process information quickly and execute tasks successfully
+ Ability to work safely and to operate power tools and equipment in a safe manner

The pay range for this position is $18.52. - $25.56 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
