POSITION SUMMARY:

The Galveston Bay Refinery is seeking a candidate for a General Maintenance Superintendent position. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Craft Manager.

This position is responsible for the execution of routine maintenance work and the management of resources in the HEO department. The candidate must understand how to balance refinery priorities versus efficiently utilizing company resources.  The candidate must be able to lead the team in safely executing work according to site Safe Work Practices and Refining Standard Practices.  The successful candidate must also possess the skills necessary to effectively manage employee and labor relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

HES&SEnsure that work is conducted per MPC HES&S policies.Audit the work areas to ensure the craftsmen are maintaining good housekeeping in work area and crew trucks.Follow the appropriate environmental policies applicable to maintenance work.Ensure that safety & environmental notifications within the area of responsibility are planned and executed within MPC guidelines.Management / Craft InitiativesEnsure adherence to policies by following MPC policies and USW labor contract.Hold the Foremen and their craft accountable for attendance, work standards, professionalism, and investigate deviations from policy when required.Coordinate TAR and Project work scope.Understand the Mechanical Integrity roles and Responsibilities as defined.Support TAR execution needs.Assist with craft coordinators assignments and contract hiring strategy for TAR and Projects.Work closely with the Reliability Engineering Team to ensure all equipment is repaired to MPC standards.Manage the daily shop update report.Good communication on delivery dates to the site.Maintenance Workflow & Budget InitiativesEffectively balance manpower resources to execute weekly maintenance schedule in their area of responsibility.Work with the maintenance planners, schedulers, and foremen to balance the weekly and long-term contractor manpower requirements.Review the KPI metrics with the team to ensure continuous improvement and maximize MPC craft productivity.Manage the budget for assigned area with recurring budget reviews, ensure scope items are properly allocated toward budget categories, and lead budget discussions with local refinery leadership team.ReliabilityEnsure that Mechanical Integrity PM’s are given priority within the scheduled work.Improve reliability in the assigned area by ensuring that repairs focus on root cause elimination.Ensure accurate feedback is given to the inspection and reliability group on repairs made on equipment per Refinery Standard Practices.Ensure that rotating equipment failures are properly investigated for root causes and resulting fixes are completed according to MPC specifications.Focus on thorough preventative maintenance (PM) programs.Follow audit programs for the area of responsibility to ensure that all documentation is being filled out correctly.Audit outside shop repair quality to ensure they are following OEM and MPC specifications.Audit all outside repair facilities per MPC Refining Standard Practices.Developing PersonnelDevelop direct reports and others within Maintenance by proactively mentoring, providing timely feedback, and conducting performance development and career development reviews..Ensure that the craft training and upskilling activities are followed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date).6+ years relevant experience in a supervisory role is preferred.10+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator.Computer Proficiencies: Microsoft Office programs, SAP preferred.Experience managing and leading hourly craft employees is preferred.A valid Driver's License is required.
