**_About the Opportunity_**
This is an open position with Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [PE]

**Job Summary:**
Performs duties in and around a company garage required to service, clean, repair, inspect, test, and maintain all automotive and mechanized field equipment in good operating condition. Performs other work as assigned.
**Duties include:**
+ Ability and willingness to work safely, following all company safety rules and practices.
+ Service, inspect, maintain, and repair the FE fleet, which includes all types of motor vehicles, motorized equipment, and tools.
+ Provide emergency road repairs, towing, ferrying, and equipment demonstration.
+ Perform physical work under various conditions, including lifting and positioning heavy parts and equipment while working under vehicles or in an upright position.
+ Working knowledge of garage work, including performing general mechanical and electrical repair work on heavy trucks, cars, trailers, and field equipment.
+ Working knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic systems.
+ Ability to prepare accurate records and reports, both written and electronic.
+ Ability to perform storm restoration duties within and outside FirstEnergy Service Company service territory. This may require out of town stays and working extended work hours any day of the week including holidays.
**Summary of Qualifications include:**
Must meet all the minimum qualifications for a Garage Mechanic A as shown on applicable job description and employee qualification guide. The following minimum qualifications and requirements must be met to obtain and retain the A classification:
+ Two years of Automotive/Diesel Mechanic trade school or five years of recent full-time experience as a fleet mechanic.
+ Experience as a garage mechanic working on large vehicles, including knowledge of vehicle diagnostic system and methods preferred.
+ Class A CDL Preferred, however, it is required after six months of employment.
+ Successful candidate must be willing to live within 40 minutes of the Service Center
+ Knowledge and Skills: Ability to meet job knowledge and skill requirements will be determined by company interviews and tests. Must be able to perform safely and proficiently all the duties of lower classification.
+ Leadership: Ability to effectively instruct and direct the work of assigned employees.
+ Safety: Ability to effectively apply safety rules and regulations.
+ Physical: Ability to perform physical work under various conditions including lifting and positioning heavy parts and equipment while working under cars or in an upright work position. Mechanical aptitude for garage work.
+ Mental: Working knowledge of company methods and routines applicable to garage work.
+ Clerical: Ability to prepare legible and accurate records and reports.
+ Work Characteristics: Meet company standards in regard to physical fitness, personal conduct and appearance, attendance, work performance, safety practices, and supervision required.
+ Special: Possess the appropriate state motor vehicle operator's license and be able to operate motor vehicles safely and demonstrate knowledge of vehicle and inspection laws. Must possess and obtain/maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (Class A). Must pass the State Motor Vehicle Inspection Test to qualify as an official inspection mechanic. **EMPLOYEE MUST MEET THE RESIDENCY REQUITREMENT.**
