Gaming Agent, MGC
Under the direction of a team of Supervising Gaming Agents, the Gaming Agent reviews the activities of a licensed gaming facility. The individual is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with the operators and managers of the casinos, and for maintaining constant communications with the Supervising agents in their assigned casino. The Gaming Agent also works closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The Gaming Agent conducts regulatory investigations and prepares complex, detailed reports. *Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:* * Assist the Supervising Gaming Agents with the recommendation and creation of policy and procedures within the IEB’s Gaming Agent section. * Monitor the casino/hotel activities for the MGC with emphasis in monitoring revenues and gaming operations of the casino industry, and assure that all laws and regulations are followed by casino licensees. * Audit casino accounting records, identify deficiencies in the internal controls of casino licensee and recommend appropriate changes, observe the gaming floor for suspicious activity and report to Supervising Gaming Agents, and review slot machine activity to ensure that machines are functioning as required. * Review and work to resolve complaints from the public, licensees and other gaming officials, assure that all criminal activity in casino is referred to MA state police and any other appropriate law enforcement agency, and cooperate with officers assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit to ensure effective and efficient regulation. * Assist in detecting and properly investigating any violations of gaming laws or regulations, conduct inquiries regarding casino operations and secure copies of necessary records to ascertain compliance with all laws and regulations, investigate all violations and prepare reports for Supervising Gaming Agents, and cooperate with investigation and prosecution of violations of the gaming law and regulations, and provide testimony to any appropriate hearing or court as necessary. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011). Under the law, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor license in Massachusetts. *Required Skills:* * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint *Minimum Experience, Education, and Training:* * Bachelor’s degree or experience working in a casino or casino regulatory agency. Salary is commensurate with experience. *First consideration will be given to applications received within 14 days of the job posting date.* The successful candidate must pass an extensive background check conducted by the Massachusetts State Police. It includes a full credit check, CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), fingerprinting, drug test, reference checks, review of IRS Income Tax Transcripts for the last four years, and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue (DOR). The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011) and regulatory oversight of G.L. chapter 23K (casino gaming), chapter 23N (sports wagering), and chapter 128A (horse racing). Under these laws, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor only license, the provision of in-person and digital sports wagering, and the live and simulcasting of horse racing in Massachusetts.
