FY26: Instructional Specialist, Division of Teaching and Learning, Central Office, 1.0 FTE

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of the Division of Teaching and learning and system related to: graduation validation; secondary school courses; secondary course bulletins and course code management; transcripts; School SAT and PSAT day; Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Montgomery County, and MCPS related reports and accountability; National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility; and project management support. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: NoneSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some evening meetings with parent or community groups.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of public school courses of study and elementary and middle school programs, preferably within MCPS; knowledge of public school education-related policies and regulations, with experience related to high school graduation requirements, courses and programs of study, transcripts, and student eligibility, preferably within MCPS. Excellent organizational skills; excellent human relations skills; strong written and oral communication skills. Has the ability to work and communicate effectively with outside partners, MCPS administrators, and school-based staff. Skilled at accessing student data using Performance Matters and Synergy. Demonstrates excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills. Prioritizes and manages several tasks simultaneously.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Master?s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of three years? successful experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Experience with scheduling students and MCPS courses and course codes, assisting students in meeting graduation requirements preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching or counseling area.
