Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Furnace Engineer to provide program support and technical guidance to Linde Gas US (LGUS) operating facilities. The Furnace Engineer will focus on steam methane reformers, reformer inlet and outlet systems, process gas boiler, and flue gas convection section coils. The Furnace Engineer will collaborate with the Mechanical Integrity team, Reliability Engineers, plant personnel and the capital projects team to support fired equipment analysis, repairs, and upgrades. This position will report to the LGUS Mechanical Integrity Manager and has the option of being located in Deer Park, TX; The Woodlands, TX; Geismar, LA; or Tonawanda, NY.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide engineering support for furnaces and associated equipment throughout the fleet.Work closely with the Mechanical Integrity team to assess inspection findings, develop repair plans, and identify root causes to eliminate repetitive failures.Stay updated on applicable industry standards to ensure LGUS facilities are aligned with requirements. Revise internal standards and policies as needed to ensure compliance.Provide engineering support to facilities to close gaps in PSI and management systems. This includes performing engineering calculations or interfacing with other technical resources to secure required documentation of PSI.Complete calculations for reformer tube and pigtail creep, reformer tube and pigtail remaining life, refractory heat transfer, and maximum allowable temperature values Support furnace and associated equipment upgrades by managing small capital projects and/or providing technical expertise to Project Managers.Assist as needed during Fired equipment MI inspections and corrective action execution.support turnaround activities as necessary which may occasionally go beyond normal business hoursIdentify bad actors and chronic damage mechanisms and develop strategies to resolve.Lead or assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities for furnace failures.
