This role is to guide CMP applications research and material development efforts as an individual contributor by understanding the needs and providing the necessary expertise/ inputs linking polishing performance with consumable properties/ process conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Familiarize with current internal expertise in the area, develop deep technical expertise in at least a couple of focus areas of the CMP Fundamentals program.

Address short- and long-term needs with appropriate use of a combination of fundamental science/ data-based approaches without compromising on the technical rigor.

Support customer engagements, continuously raise the level of understanding in CMP performance vs. consumable properties interactions across the application research team by: Identifying gaps in technical competencies based on needs and defining/executing necessary technical programs.

Developing and rolling out necessary modeling/ digital initiatives and novel characterization capabilities.

Aiding in the roll out of a suite of user-friendly predictive models as part of CMPT’s strategy towards tech support.

Training, and mentoring junior scientists/ engineers and technicians.

Develop and manage technical collaborations with external/ internal remote teams of experts as needed communicate findings to management and educate customers on Dupont’s technical knowhow via presentations/ reports.

Job Required:

Familiarity with various aspects of the CMP process, polyurethane structure vs. property interactions.

Working knowledge of numerical methods like FEM and commercial packages like COMSOL, Abaqus, ANSYS.

Familiarity with leveraging data science/ machine learning based approaches to achieve broader technical objectives.

Advanced degree in either of chemical/ mechanical engineering and material science fields.

Familiarity and hands on experience with experimental method development, mathematical modeling of physical processes, computational approaches and programming in Python, Matlab, etc.

Expert knowledge in a broad range of technical areas spanning: transport phenomena, polymer mechanical properties and characterizations, contact/ fracture mechanics, and tribology.

Be comfortable being hands on and take a deep dive into novel technical areas when required, to achieve broader objectives.
