Functional Area Leader

Weyerhaeuser’s Sutton OSB facility has a career opportunity for a Functional Area Leader. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and technical capabilities and the ability to grow and develop as a future leader. This position will help to develop leadership, focus on safety and work toward operational excellence; also, a successful candidate will help drive quality and production goals, coordinate and maintain operational schedules and support the business to ensure continuous process improvement. A Functional Area Leader provides direct leadership to a team of hourly team members. This role will report to the Operation's Manager.

Key Functions

Provide daily leadership and oversight of functional area team members.

Role model all standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles of integrity, fairness, creating a positive inclusive work environment.

Improve and maintain functional area performance according to set objectives and established goals for safety, quality, process reliability, cost control and people development

Ensure cost control improve production and development and maintenance of functional budget.

Provide leadership for process improvement

Scheduling and attending regular production/safety meetings and facilitating proactive problem-solving

Actively involved in assigning work and evaluating job performance

Support cross training initiatives to increase talent depth on team

Support, coach and provide timely feedback and direction to team members

Meet production standards and goals

Efficiently manage downtime events

High School diploma or GED equivalent required

Bachelor's degree in management or other related field preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment required

Demonstrated leadership results in safety

Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set

Able to effectively support alignment and focus across multiple departments

Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals in a complex and fast-paced manufacturing environment

Demonstrated ability in leading a team to achieve breakthrough results

Ability to generate commitment and motivate employees toward a common goal

Understand and work within the culture of the group

Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills

Strong planning and organizational skills

Ability to analyze and present data

Strong written verbal communication skills

Knowledge and ability in utilizing computers in a business environment is a must

Proficient in all Microsoft program suite applications

Must be able to accept and respond to after-hours calls, work weekends/holidays as needed

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $81,300 to $122,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
