Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge - Surgical Oncology (4 Main)
**Join UPMC Shadyside’s Oncology Team!** UPMC Shadyside is hiring a Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge to join their team in the Surgical Oncology unit 4 Main! Shift/Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), with alternating weekdays and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required. **About UPMC Shadyside 4 Main:** 4 Main encompasses patients who are recovering from post-surgical procedures for the treatment of life-altering cancers. These surgical procedures include cytoreductive (debulking) surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy treatment, Whipple procedures, colon resections, liver resections, and other abdominal/rectal procedures. 4 Main employees are expected to be exposed to many different types of tubes and drains that our patients experience in their post-surgical phase. These drains include (but are not limited to) wound vacs, ileostomies, colostomies, feeding tubes, Jackson Pratt (JP) drains, pigtail catheters, and chest tubes. Key Responsibilities: + Destination Coordination: Greet and assist patients and visitors with directions, escorting, parking validation, scooter issuance, and patient belongings tracking while maintaining confidentiality. + Environmental Services: Clean and organize patient rooms, common areas, and equipment; replenish supplies; make beds and report maintenance issues. + Dietary Services: Assemble and deliver meals per dietary orders, maintain food safety, and follow sanitation guidelines. + Transportation: Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens between units; disinfect transport equipment; maintain accurate records. + Supply & Equipment Management: Order, stock, and deliver supplies and equipment; monitor expiration dates and refrigerator temperatures; inventory medical devices. + Administrative Support: Coordinate tests and transports, manage patient charts and documentation, answer phones, update bedboards, order supplies, and complete audits. + General Duties: Respond to call lights, interact with patients, promote mobility, maintain resource materials, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Exhibit UPMC values and experience behaviors (AIDET, The Promise, 10-5 Rule, Own Your Zone) in all duties. Perform additional tasks as assigned. Educational/Knowledge Requirements: + High school diploma or equivalent. + Must also have either: + 1 year of experience + Enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation + Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field. + Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class or basic information system training. + Microcomputer experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. + Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred. + Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse Licensure/Certification: + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. + Act 34 **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
