Full Charge Bookkeeper
Description This search is being conducted by Steve Spinello. We are looking for a skilled Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This position is integral to maintaining the financial health and accuracy of our client's organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of bookkeeping, including payroll, tax filings, and financial reporting, while contributing to strategic planning and budgeting efforts. Responsibilities: • Process invoices efficiently, coordinating with ministry leaders to secure payment authorizations. • Maintain accurate financial records, including cash flow tracking and donor contribution statements. • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and prepare all necessary summaries for General Ledger entries. • Supervise volunteers in fund classification and oversee weekly deposit preparation of received funds. • Generate monthly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements, adhering to GAAP and internal policies. • Provide detailed financial data and cost analyses to church committees and staff on a regular basis. • Handle payroll operations, tax documentation, and employee benefits administration. • File required tax returns, sales tax reports, and workers’ compensation documents in a timely manner. • Assist the Finance Committee in creating and managing the annual budget. • Support stewardship efforts by setting goals, monitoring progress, and conducting financial analyses. Requirements • Proficiency in financial recording methods and accounting software, including QuickBooks. • Demonstrated experience in payroll systems. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial records. • Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach. • Knowledge of financial principles and year-end reporting requirements for not-for-profit entities. • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other financial tools. • Minimum of five years of full charge bookkeeping experience.
