**Job Description:**
**Job Summary**
The Field Sales Engineer is a senior-level technical sales professional specializing in optical infrastructure and data center connectivity. This role is responsible for engaging directly with top-tier hyperscalers to drive the adoption of cutting-edge optical components, high-speed interconnects, and next-generation coherent technologies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in optical networking, fiber infrastructure, and AI/ML data center architectures, with a proven ability to influence and align with hyperscaler roadmaps and deployment strategies.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead strategic engagements and drive revenue with hyperscalers focused on optical transceivers, coherent pluggables, DWDM solutions, and data center interconnect (DCI) technologies.
+ Develop and execute long-term account strategies targeting optical transport, fiber-to-the-rack (FTTR), leaf-spine and AI fabric connectivity, securing design wins and long-term supply commitments.
+ Act as the primary technical liaison between customer infrastructure teams (optical, network engineering, architecture) and internal product management and engineering groups.
+ Present and position complex optical solutions—including 1.6T/800G/400G pluggables, ZR/ZR+, silicon photonics, and optical amplifiers—to both technical and executive audiences.
+ Proactively shape customer architectures and infrastructure plans by providing insights on optical link budgets, power/latency tradeoffs, transceiver form factors, and fiber infrastructure scalability.
+ Monitor hyperscaler deployments and emerging workloads (e.g., GenAI/LLMs) to align product strategies with evolving east-west traffic demands and data center interconnect expansion.
**Required Qualifications**
+ 12+ years of experience in optical networking, technical sales, or field applications engineering—5+ years of which are in direct support of hyperscalers or cloud providers.
+ Demonstrated success with high-speed optical components and systems, including QSFP-DD/OSFP, coherent pluggables (ZR/ZR+), and silicon photonics-based solutions.
+ Deep familiarity with optical layer design, including DCI planning, ROADM deployment, mux/demux integration, and metro/regional long-haul design.
+ Established relationships with infrastructure and optical architecture decision-makers at major cloud and hyperscale companies.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Master’s or PhD strongly preferred.
**Key Competencies**
+ Industry-recognized expert in optical infrastructure and data center connectivity, with strong insight into the transition from traditional networking to AI-native optical architectures.
+ Strategic thinker capable of influencing hyperscaler technology directions across multiple domains (optics, routing, cabling, interconnect planning).
+ Skilled in balancing long-term design-in engagements with short-term execution, working cross-functionally across product, engineering, and supply chain teams.
+ Able to translate customer infrastructure challenges into actionable product enhancements and long-term roadmap differentiation.
+ Key contributor to the company’s position as a preferred supplier for next-generation optical connectivity across AI, cloud, and web-scale deployments.
