Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
NBC4 Los Angeles is looking for a Freelance meteorologist to create and deliver forecasts for Today in LA weekend newscast with the potential for some occasional shifts during the week. This is an opportunity to join a great team and connect with our community.
+ Gather and research weather information from various sources to present a consistently accurate forecast to NBC4 viewers.
+ Ability to make a smooth, professional, on-air presentation that is as engaging as it is accurate in its forecast.
+ Create weather graphics and operate weather technology with ease.
+ Provide forecast information across all platforms, including broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media.
+ Record and deliver promotional announcements when assigned.
+ Five years minimum experience as a broadcast meteorologist.
+ Ability to operate computer graphics and other forecasting software.
+ Ability to interpret raw weather data.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide accurate forecasts.
+ Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Meteorology or related field preferred.
+ AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, AMS Certified Digital Meteorologist, and/or NWA Seal of Approval required
Eligibility Requirements:

+ Must be willing to work at the station in Universal City, CA, and other locations as assigned
+ Must be 18 years or greater
+ Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
+ Must have a valid driver’s license
+ Must have ability to work any shifts during the week, including overnights and weekends
Desired Characteristics:
+ Experience in west coast weather patterns
+ College degree, with special concentration in meteorology
+ Strong social media presence
+ Strong technical skills, including Max Weather and live weather radar
+ Strong graphical skills, including augmented reality
+ Team player who is flexible, able to work well and communicate with others
+ Motivated and has ability to work on own unsupervised
+ Displays a positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines
+ High degree of integrity and professionalism
+ Strong organizational skills
Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site.
Salary Range: Daily Rate starting at $450 plus applicable union premiums
