NBC4 Los Angeles is looking for a Freelance meteorologist to create and deliver forecasts for Today in LA weekend newscast with the potential for some occasional shifts during the week. This is an opportunity to join a great team and connect with our community.  + Gather and research weather information from various sources to present a consistently accurate forecast to NBC4 viewers. + Ability to make a smooth, professional, on-air presentation that is as engaging as it is accurate in its forecast. + Create weather graphics and operate weather technology with ease. + Provide forecast information across all platforms, including broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media. +  Record and deliver promotional announcements when assigned. + Five years minimum experience as a broadcast meteorologist. + Ability to operate computer graphics and other forecasting software. + Ability to interpret raw weather data. + Demonstrated ability to provide accurate forecasts. + Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Meteorology or related field preferred. + AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, AMS Certified Digital Meteorologist, and/or NWA Seal of Approval required Eligibility Requirements: + External applicants must submit a resume/CV and demo reel through the www.nbcunicareers.com site job to be considered + Successful candidate will be required to join the SAG AFTRA union if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that union  + Must be willing to work at the station in Universal City, CA, and other locations as assigned + Must be 18 years or greater + Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States + Must have a valid driver’s license + Must have ability to work any shifts during the week, including overnights and weekends Desired Characteristics: + Experience in west coast weather patterns + College degree, with special concentration in meteorology + Strong social media presence + Strong technical skills, including Max Weather and live weather radar + Strong graphical skills, including augmented reality + Team player who is flexible, able to work well and communicate with others + Motivated and has ability to work on own unsupervised + Displays a positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines + High degree of integrity and professionalism + Strong organizational skills Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site.
