Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job DescriptionLead coverage of breaking/developing news stories both editorially and logistically for both the newsroom and field crewsResearch, coordinate & implement coverage of news storiesAbility to quickly assess what is needed on coverage of breaking storiesAbility to find & book experts and community members to appear on-airCollaborate with the website, social media, and streaming teamInitiate & maintain communication with affiliates & NBC Network counterpartsConsistently monitor and break news through social media platforms and toolsThis shift will start as an overnight weekend position, along with several weekday shifts.This is not a staff position. However, 40 hours per week through 2025 is possible

PLEASE NOTE: This is a project position with an estimated duration of up to 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

QualificationsPrevious experience working in a broadcast news environmentAble to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both editorial and technical teamsWorking Knowledge of Police ScannersPrevious coordinating assignments and generating story ideas a plus
