Amazon Costa Rica, as part of the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) regime is entitled to local tax benefits. These benefits come along with several requirements that every company needs to comply with in order to maintain the FTZ status. Compliance Team main responsibility is to maximize the tax benefits and make sure Amazon SJO entities are in comply with all guidelines established by law in order to take full advantage of the FTZ regime, without neglecting local necessities. As part of the Compliance Team, the FTZ Compliance Coordinator will be responsible of supervising all Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and customs procedures and actives, as required for local legislation purposes. This role will be a liaison between vendors / shippers, customs agencies, recycling services companies in Amazon Costa Rica, and will assist with Customs Bureau and PROCOMER when required for audit purposes, donations, disposals and general inquiries. FTZ Compliance Coordinator will play a key role with other Amazon SJO departments such as GREF, IT, VLT Procurement, and other teams for review and validation of non-inventory trade transactions and will be custodian of all backup documentation related to customs and FTZ processes.
Key job responsibilities
Guarantee the adequate process of DUAS creations, tax payments, donations, disposal, recycling, assets importations and maintenance of the local operations control book to reduce the risk of potential audits from customs and/government offices.
Operations Books update for all Amazon customs locations.
Matching of all received merchandise with backup documentation (DUA, sale invoice).
Matching of retired merchandise with backup documentation (donation / disposal minutes, OIJ theft reports, Government’s vouchers, etc.).
Work with internal departments such as Procurement, AP, and Finance on best practices and processes for management and storage of all relevant backup documentation (PO, invoices, DUA’s, credit notes, serials listings, etc.)
Respond to FTZ and customs inquiries from other departments such as Fin-Ops, Finance or Operations
Provide support during FTZ authorities (PROCOMER / Customs Bureau).
Implement and execute audit mechanisms that ensure the correct management of the company's assets by the different asset administrators.
Supervise the Compliance processes and tasks execute by external vendors.
