Job Description
The FPGA Engineer will contribute to the design, test, and integration of complex FPGA-based control algorithms for state-of-the-art transmitter systems. This role requires close collaboration with both hardware and software engineers throughout program development and system installation.
ResponsibilitiesContribute to the definition and documentation of functional requirements and translate these requirements into FPGA architectures.Implement and document FPGA designs using HDL, such as VHDL.Support system integration and testing to produce functional designs.Debug and test code on hardware utilizing tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and logic analyzers.Define and coordinate software tasks related to hardware-software interfaces within FPGA-based circuit card assemblies.Design and implement test procedures for both chip-level and board-level systems.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 1 or more years of relevant experience.Experience with the FPGA design process, including simulation, synthesis, implementation, and timing closure.FPGA design experience using Verilog/System Verilog or VHDL languages targeting Xilinx or Altera FPGAs.Comfort working closely with HW/RF engineering specialties on design and configuration for RF communication systems.Experience using version control tools for collaborative development.Experience designing reusable circuits for multiple projects.Familiarity with FPGA-based high-speed memory and bus interfaces such as PCIe and DDR3.Exposure to software and hardware interaction, such as Linux host/PCIe endpoint.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with project teams, management, and customers.Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain DoD secret clearance within one year.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with Xilinx FPGA design flows using ISE and Vivado.Experience in RF system design.Experience with Matlab/Simulink or equivalent for the development of DSP algorithms implemented in FPGAs.High-level programming skills (C, Python, etc.) and the ability to write simple software applications for FPGA testing in a Linux environment.Proficiency with Xilinx FPGA design flows using both ISE and Vivado is essential.Experience with the full development cycle of FPGA design, including simulation, synthesis, implementation, and timing closure.Work Environment
Work in an office environment closely with a team of hardware and FPGA engineers. The role involves collaborating with a team of five members. The position requires some travel and may include working on multiple concurrent projects with tight timelines. While the majority of the team excels at implementing defined tasks, this role requires someone capable of defining requirements and providing the architectural vision for FPGA implementations.
