 Responsibilities

Join Baker Tilly as a Senior Associate in our fast-growing Corporate Finance Advisory team within the Office of the CFO practice. We help clients make confident, data-informed decisions through insightful financial analysis, dynamic reporting, and strategic guidance tailored to their business goals. Our team supports a diverse client base – from pre-revenue startups to multinational public corporations – across industries including consumer products and retail, manufacturing, technology, life sciences, healthcare, professional services, financial institutions, and more.

As a Senior Associate, you’ll contribute to the development of financial models, reports, and dashboards that inform critical business decisions. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals on projects involving budgeting, forecasting, M&A support, and performance analysis – delivering insights that shape client strategy and enhance operations. Support complex financial analysis and modeling engagements, including forecasting business initiatives, evaluating financing alternatives, performing scenario analysis, and assessing cash flows to investors and other stakeholders.Assist in the development of forward-looking budgets, rolling forecasts, and performance dashboards, ensuring outputs are accurate, insightful, and aligned with client objectives.Compile, organize, and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, support scenario planning, and inform decision-making.Conduct research and due diligence to support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives, including reviewing financial documents and summarizing key findings.Assist in preparing client deliverables, participating in virtual meetings, and ensuring high-quality service throughout the engagement.Build and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, assess scenario outcomes, and support decision-making.Collaborate with team members to continuously improve tools, processes, and client solutions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.3+ years of relevant experience in finance, consulting, or business advisory.CFA designation, or similar credential (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA-Finance), is a plus.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to independently create and manage spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Familiarity with US GAAP.Experience with coding, Power BI, or other FP&A tools is a plus.Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute in a dynamic team environment.

Additional Information

The compensation range for this role is $86,660 to $164,300. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

What you will do:

Serve as core team member on complex client engagements, including SOX readiness, co-sourcings/outsourcings, program optimization and internal controls workstreams for ERP implementations,Provide guidance on SOX risk assessments and scoping analyses to facilitate the development of an effective testing program.Manage SOX-readiness activities related to design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.Lead controls workstreams for ERP implementations as strategic opportunity to increase efficiency and effectiveness of internal control programs.Facilitate control walkthroughs and oversee test of design and operating effectiveness across multiple clients.Identify opportunities to embed automated controls in business processes and optimize internal control environmentsCoordinate SOX program testing with key client stakeholders and external audit teams.Evaluate control deficiencies, perform root cause analysis and co-develop management remediation actions.Provide support and guidance to management as part of remediation effortsEstablish project plans and coordinate the overall work effort of engagement teams; anticipate risks and issues and proactively take actions to address.Provide periodic status updates to and engage with key stakeholders to prepare insight management and board / audit committee presentations.Collaborate with IT controls professionals to understand how IT controls and IT dependencies factor into a client’s overall SOX program and ensure the audit testing program and control deficiency evaluation process reflect appropriate consideration of risk.Mentor and develop junior team members on fundamental concepts of SOX compliance including but not limited to:Understanding a client’s business process to identify business risks and associated controlsIdentifying IT dependencies within a client’s business processEvaluating the design and implementation of key financial controlsDeveloping appropriately tailored testing proceduresIdentifying and evaluating control deficienciesProject management and effective communicationWork closely with client executives and management teams to understand their businesses and assist in identifying and managing financial and operational risks within their business processes and systems.Develop in-depth knowledge of clients’ businesses and industries by having direct client interaction while working on multiple aspects of an engagementThink independently and strategically about your clients’ business, systems and risks providing recommendations for business and process improvements based upon knowledge gained relative to the client’s operations, processes and business objectivesProvide strategic business advice to clients by assisting in the implementation of new processes and controls that address key risksAssess, manage and optimize business risk across a wide range of areas, including internal audit, enterprise risk management (ERM) and SOX complianceReview clients' processes and controls against industry frameworks, identifying gaps in design and execution, and communicating issues and recommendations to clientsManage the development of audit programs and the execution of internal audits and internal control assessments across a range of risk areas, coordinating closely with subject matter resources, as appropriateDraft comprehensive executive summaries and final reports for delivery to the client, documenting and reviewing engagement work papers in accordance with industry-accepted internal audit methodologiesAct as a valued business advisor, build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client serviceFacilitate professional and effective presentations to internal and external audiencesContinue to develop your knowledge and experience working with a variety of technology environments, platforms, applications and tools/utilitiesAssist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are metUtilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients and the communityTake lead roles in practice development initiatives, including those related to branding and marketing (thought leadership, webinars, conferences, etc.) and capability build (training, methodology, tools/enablers, etc.)Invest in your professional development individually and through participation in firm wide learning and development programsSupport the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goalsEnjoy friendships, social activities and team outings that encourage a work-life balance

Successful candidates will have:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related programCPA, CIA or CISA certifications (s) required5+ year(s) experience with internal audit, previous experience leading SOX engagements requiredExperience as a client serving professional for a large national consulting firm desiredFamiliarity with major ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Netsuite, MS Dynamics,etc.Familiarity applying PCAOB auditing standards and other control frameworks such as COSO.Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detailExceptional verbal and written communication, collaboration, and time management skills

The compensation range for this role is $116,730 to $221,300. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
