Forklift Operator
Move material throughout facility and into and out of trucks without injury to boxes, products, or raw material.Stack boxes safely; maintains effective use of space.Determines needs of production employees and delivers appropriate material in a timely and responsive manner.Learns LISTA processes, parts feature, recognizes many different categories of parts and materials to know what to deliver to production employees.Uses discretion and problem solving; works independently with support of team effort.Works as a team member to ensure well-coordinated process within the department and between departments.Maintain certification to drive a fork truck (electric or gas powered) through the National Safety Council.


Preventive Maintenance:

Performs routine safety checklist at the beginning of each shift as well as routine maintenance procedures on the fork truck. This includes battery and truck maintenance and the safety checklist.Report any problems with the vehicle immediately.At the end of each shift plug battery in for charging.  Change battery when required.


Shipping:

Check all packages and boxes for proper labeling and job number which are received from assembly, heavy parts and tops departments.Verify all piece counts by comparing to bill-of-lading (BOL).Verify the number of pieces loaded and initial documentation.Ensure that drivers verify and sign for materials loaded.Ensure that material is loaded properly and safely.Submit completed BOL to the shipping office.


Receiving/Stocking:

Check all shipments for damage.  Usually if there is damage, sign for it as “damaged”.  Sometimes return if entire shipment is damaged.Verify piece count as indicated on delivery receipt.  Submit delivery receipt to Inventory Control department.Verify piece counts (# of items in a box), if needed by packing list.Stock material on pallets in proper storage area.

 
Storage Production Department:

Supply material (on pallets) to department as requested.

Respond to requests in a timely and efficient manner.  

Other responsibilities required:

Take direction from Supervisor/Manager as requested to support business needs.
