Job Summary
Responsible for managing the planning, coordination, inspection, and overall administration of the Transmission or Distribution vegetation management program within a geographic area of AEP, to include the supervision of Utility Foresters and administrative staff executing the program. Provide leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, and monitor and control, the vegetation management program in a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short and long range goals. Develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal customers, external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers.Job Description

What You'll Do:
Vegetation Management Leadership
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise the vegetation management program. Provide training and direct supervision for team members executing these activities.
Safety Accountability
Support and ensure adherence to the AEP System Safety Process, promoting a safe working environment with a focus on "Commitment to Zero Harm".
Program Coordination
Supervise, develop, and review the vegetation management plan, schedule, and budget. Ensure compliance with AEP Accounting rules and manage funding effectively.
Communication and Reporting
Communicate program details effectively, provide status updates, lead planning meetings, and prepare concise written reports for stakeholders.
Relationship Management
Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including operating company staff, contractors, and vendors, while participating in Customer Experience initiatives.
Training and Development
Offer guidance and training to improve vegetation management systems, processes, and procedures. Engage in high-level discussions to challenge and enhance understanding of vegetation management.
Industry Knowledge
Stay informed on utility vegetation management practices, including herbicides and growth inhibitors, and provide relevant advice to stakeholders.
Contract Management
Apply knowledge of current contract provisions and participate in the development and analysis of new contracts.
Employee Supervision
Supervise assigned employees, including creating well-written performance plans and supporting direct reports in executing the vegetation management plan.
Representation
Represent the company with external customers, vendors, regulators, and in legal proceedings as required.

Region Forestry Supervisor (grade 8): $99,110 - $115,330
Region Forestry Manager (grade 9) $112,869 - $135,443
What You'll Have:
Education requirements are listed below:
Bachelor Degree in Forestry, Arboriculture or a related field and a minimum of six (6) years' experience in utility vegetation management.
Associate Degree in one of the same fields and a minimum of eight (8) years' experience in utility vegetation management
High school diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in utility vegetation management.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
Certified Pesticide Applicator's License required; ISA Certification as Arborist / Utility Specialist required, if Forestry Supervisor does not hold either a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Forestry, Arboriculture or a related field.
