Foreperson – Aerial Line Construction
You are a Foreperson with 2–5 years of experience in field operations, specializing in aerial Outside Plant (OSP) construction within the telecom industry. While your primary focus will be aerial line work, you’ll also be expected to support underground or other utility crews as required.
Working independently or as part of a team, you will execute project plans and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. You will oversee quality control, manage project performance, enforce safety standards, and delegate tasks to field staff, contractors, and tradespeople.
On-call availability is required for emergency response outside of regular working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Essential Responsibilities:

Demonstrates leadership in health, safety and environmental protections on the projectApplies the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S/OSHA Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the projectSupervise the installation of telecom cables (fiber or copper) on polesOversee lashing, splicing prep, hardware installation, and pole transfersEnsure proper rigging and climbing techniques are followedCoordinate bucket truck or RBD (Radial Boom Derrick) operationsTrains, supports and offers guidance to new hiresEnsures that all tailboards, MH entry permits, timesheets, drivers logbooks, and billing are handed in on timeMay perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

2–5 years of experience in aerial utility construction as a Superintendent or Foreperson, including oversight of multiple aerial project sites or crews simultaneouslyProven hands-on experience with aerial fibre optic cable work, including installation, lashing, splicing preparation, and pole transfersSolid understanding of current construction practices and field concepts, practices, and procedures (including OSP)Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processesAbility to operate industry specific equipment such as directional drills, Vac trucks, small excavators, skid steers, backhoes and road cut sawsAbility to lead and direct the work of others, including the supervision of subcontractorsStrong knowledge of construction documents (including utility plans and maps), contracts, costs, and budgetsStrong organizational and planning skills; proven experience organizing workloads, managing multiple priorities, and working with multiple deadlinesAptitude for learning new technology and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and OutlookStrong communication skills, both written and verbalFamiliarity with protocol and practices of large telecommunications providers in the Ontario marketClean drivers abstractAbility to read and interpret utility locates and civil construction drawings

Work Conditions:

Must be open to occasional emergency on-call shifts during evenings and weekends, as needed. Able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditionsWilling to travel as required
