In this position...

Vehicle Dynamics CAE Technical Specialist.  This position involves utilizing CAE tools and software as well as developing new tools and methods to support program architecture decisions, full vehicle handling, ride, and lap time analysis, as well as validate testing and performance predictions.

Ford Motor Company continues to grow and modernize production and motorsports vehicles for our customers seeking the ultimate capability and performance. In support of this effort, the Ford Performance team is looking for a Vehicle Dynamics CAE Technical Specialist.

 

You'll have...

10+ years of automotive CAE experience, with an emphasis on performance or racing vehicle design and modeling. 10+ years of experience using multi-body dynamics tools like ADAMS, ADAMS Car or similar software 10+ years of experience using full vehicle parametric models like CarSim 10+ years of experience using programming languages MATLAB, C+, VisualBasic or similar tools

Even better, you may have…

3+ years of use and knowledge of controls system theory related to active and semi-active suspension systems, steering, brake controls or powertrain controls Linear FEA structural analysis including stress/deflection, modal/NVH, and topological and topographical optimization. Experience with analytical optimization tools (HEEDS, Hyperstudy etc), DOE studies, regression analyses, and their use for K&C and design iteration Broad analytical experience preferred. CFD, multidisciplinary tools, LTS, non-linear, life, solid, composite etc. Multidisciplinary and Simulink integration for system and subsystem models Significant experience correlating physical systems and vehicles to analytical prediction Experience with a lap time simulation and performance software tool Experience with data acquisition tools similar to MOTEC Knowledge of and experience with full vehicle simulators

What you'll do...

Utilize CAE tools and test results to support the delivery of the company’s high-performance cars andtrucks with full vehicle and suspension system modeling Utilize the CAE tools to support and direct efficient vehicle development and design processes – the CAE Group is a part of the Advanced Systems Engineering Group defining new product suspension and chassis designs Implement and refine existing CAE modeling tools and where necessary develop new tools to improve performance, steering, handling, ride, and load predictions Inform planned vehicle tests and interpret test results as part of the Vehicle Dynamics and Simulations team Analyze full vehicle test data to creates specific attribute targets and ensure hardware choices support those targets Support the Full Vehicle Simulation Modeling work and simulator tool development at the FPTC full vehicle simulator and other off-site test locations 3-5 days per month Mentor CAE engineers
