Advanced project engineering focused on building ground-up and derivative production and motorsports vehicles.

Ford Motor Company continues to grow and modernize production vehicles for our customers seeking the ultimate capability and performance. In support of this effort, the Ford Performance team is looking for an underbody systems engineer with passion for high performing vehicles and customer experiences.

In addition to demonstrated total vehicle architecture experience and problem-solving skills, applicants must possess a passion for performance and strong interest in technology. Applicants will be required to interface with teams that include the design studio, vehicle engineering, chassis systems engineering, body structures engineering, interior systems engineer, and digital feature owners allowing for numerous opportunities to expand technical knowledge in a wide area of automotive technologies, systems, and components.

 

You'll have...

BS degree in Engineering required, MS desired Minimum of 7 years experience in vehicle architecture which include a chassis/powertrain release activity and experience in a broader architecture/systems role Proficiency in design and product life cycle management tools CATIA, Teamcenter, VisMockup, ENOVIA and KBE Tools. Understanding of the unique high performance vehicle customers and the unique use case for track, dessert running and rock crawling. Understanding of FMVSS and regulatory requirements for production vehicles, as well as race series requirements, and ability to develop products that meet those balanced requirements.

Even better, you may have…

Experience in vehicle attribute development areas a plus, such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, thermal and aero systems, etc. Ability to develop clear working level documents and management presentations as well as clear/concise communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several unique and complex tasks simultaneously. Familiarity of the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) and critical milestone deliverables in the early program phases.

What you'll do...

Work with the Ford Performance planning team in the development of future production and motorsports vehicles. Projects may include ground-up vehicles or platform derivatives for track or off-road segments. Coordinate design efforts between cross-functional activities to ensure architectural compatibility between mechanical package, occupants and intended design requirements, within the Ford Performance Team as well as Ford’s Flexible Vehicle Architecture Team. Lead the development of solutions and alternatives to meet the overall package, systems architecture and related targets. Lead and mentor an advanced engineering team, including upper body, occupant package, chassis systems, and underbody engineering.
