The JBT Food Tech Center welcomes customers from across the globe to test their products on our equipment. Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting sanitation standard operating procedures in the Food Processing Technology center and preparing equipment for customer trials. They also assist in developing programs to ensure maintenance and sanitary conditions of all FPTC facilities and equipment. Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent: Perform proper cleaning procedures as required for equipment utilized in the FPTC for customer testing, demonstration and training activities. 25% Assist in developing programs to ensure the maintenance of all FPTC facilities and equipment are properly organized, cleaned and maintained in a sanitary condition, suitable for inspection and/or use. 25% Set-up, level, adjust, and inspect all food processing lines for subsequent FPTC testing or demonstration as directed 25% Secure FPTC each night. Lock doors and cabinets. Shut down all equipment, dispose of all trash, and turn off lights and air handling units 25% Occasional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. Why work at JBT ... Knowledge and Skills: Minimum of High School diploma; Associate Degree in food science related field is preferred. Experience: Experience working in an industrial food processing plant preferred. Knowledge of food sanitation and cleaning procedures preferred. Experience with proper and effective use of a wide variety of cleaning chemicals required. Training Requirements: What additional training will an employee require to continue to perform the duties of the position? Operating and maintenance training on a variety of JBT and allied suppliers food processing machinery required. Scope of Responsibility/Accountability: Explain the degree of supervision/guidance, procedures/ processes used, judgement, creativity, planning & resourcefulness needed to do the job. Applicant must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to follow specific procedures and processes to ensure equipment is thoroughly cleaned and operational for the next test. Applicant will assist in crating and uncrating customer and allied equipment. Supervisory Responsibility: There are no direct reports to this position Financial Responsibility: N/A Work Environment and Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Work Environment: Primary Work environment is the FPTC. Working conditions are fast paced, usually wet with somewhat impaired visibility due to steam and water vapor from cleaning activity. Normal temperatures range from 65 to 75 F but can be higher or lower at various times of the year. The job involves the use of strong sanitation chemicals and proper safety gear must be worn. This position is exposed to various cleaning and lubricating products, heat, noise and other elements associated with the sanitation and cleaning process, but with none present to the extent of being continually disagreeable. This position requires the operation of all JBT FoodTech equipment installed in FPTC as well as a variety of allied supplier equipment. Physical Demands: Frequent heavy lifting of equipment components and supplies is required. Moving of equipment around the FPTC is done on a regular basis.
