Responsibilities
1. Provides friendly and engaged guest care at all times.
2. Hires, trains, evaluates and communicates with all Service Deli and Orient Express associates including counseling and administering discipline when needed.
3. Coaches and cross-trains associates to encourage their management development in preparation for future promotional opportunities.
4. Writes daily plans and weekly work schedules that anticipate the needs of the business.
5. Responsible for role-modeling salesmanship techniques by being present in the sales area, teaching how to up-sell and cross-sell and how to merchandise within the department in order to excite sales.
6. Actively participates in all phases of food service production including slicing meat and cheese, incorporating ingredients to create fresh salads, frying chicken and packaging products that ensure the availability of delicatessen merchandise every day for our guests.
7. Works towards acquiring product knowledge and expertise within department(s) in order to respond to guest questions and provide informative information about merchandise.
8. Responsible for rotation of merchandise and maintenance of displays ensuring our products meet our freshness guarantee at all times.
9. Maintains accurate records for damaged/spoiled merchandise in accordance with company policies and procedures.
10. Stays updated on weekly specials, coupons and other company promotions that encourage an environment that delights our guests.
11. Works in and cultivates a team oriented work environment.
12. Manages loss prevention efforts within the department in order to ensure a safe shopping experience and workplace.
13. Store is open seven days a week and may require weekend, holiday and shift work.
Qualifications:
• Passion for serving people and creating a guest focused work environment.
• 1-2 years of department operations experience or equivalent education to be knowledgeable of the nature of every position within the department.

• Math skills necessary, but not limited to following recipes, gross margins, markup and percentages, completing reports, budgeting labor and sales, completing sales transactions and calculating discounts.
• Ability to work in wet environment in order to clean and sanitize tools, pots/pans and utensils using cleaning chemicals and detergents without allergic reaction.
• Ability to work around food ingredients, produce and spices without allergic reaction.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with guests and associates in professional and courteous manner. This includes answering telephone calls and using in-store intercom system.
• Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment.
• Current state Food Handler’s Permit may be required.
Work Environment:
Work space will be primarily in kitchen environment with exposure to machine induced background noise, ice/wet areas, hot grills, fryers, slicers, freezers and refrigerated areas. May be required to join a labor union. Physical activity: Lifting, standing/walking, bending, twisting, reaching, fingering, pushing/pulling, sitting

Cleaning supplies: bleach, hand soap, hand sanitizer, glass and multi-surface cleaner, floor degreaser, pot/pan detergent, block whitener, bio-shield drain treatment, food grade lubricant, quaternary sanitizer. Personal Protective Equipment: Kevlar gloves, fryer gloves, heavy cotton oven mitts, heavy cotton sleeves, silicon oven mitt, heavy cotton gloves, goggles
The pay range is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
