Job Description
We are seeking a Food Safety Expert in Chicago, IL to join our team. This role involves supporting our food contact compliance program, collaborating with our corporate quality and food safety team, and ensuring our products meet global food safety regulations.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the food contact compliance program.Collaborate with the corporate quality and food safety team to analyze risk assessments and escalations.Conduct risk assessments for new ingredients, products, processes, and packaging intended for global markets.Review existing product formulas for compliance with global food safety regulations.Develop and manage corporate food safety global compliance programs, including monitoring the Chemical Contaminants Surveillance program and Global Food Safety Packaging Compliance program.Stay informed on emerging international issues and regulations in food safety and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.Escalate compliance deviations related to global ingredients and packaging to the food safety and regulatory directors.Ensure the implementation of global food safety programs and monitor food safety Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for compliance and effectiveness.Serve as a subject matter expert for food safety during the roll-out of all PLM projects, updates, and enhancements.Lead quarterly updates on global regulatory compliance with regulatory partners.Perform other duties as assigned by the food safety director.Essential SkillsBachelors Degree2-3 years of experience in a food safety or quality assurance positionExperience in a food manufacturing plantSupervisory or managerial skillsExperience with SAP and other digital platformsProficiency in MS Suite - PowerPoint, Word, and ExcelAdditional Skills & QualificationsHACCP certificationPCQI certificationKnowledge of international laws and regulations related to ingredients and packaging materialsBilingual Spanish is a plusWork Environment
The role is hybrid, with two days working from home. The position involves corporate-based work with limited plant exposure. The company is experiencing rapid growth and offers a cross-functional work culture, providing opportunities for exposure to various teams.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
