Job Summary
The Food Safety Analyst will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining food safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FDA, USDA, and California Department of Public Health standards. This role involves conducting inspections, analyzing data, and collaborating with production teams to uphold food safety protocols in our Watsonville facility.
Key Responsibilities
+ Conduct Inspections and Audits: Perform regular inspections of production facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with HACCP, FSMA, and GMP standards.
+ Sample Collection and Testing: Collect and analyze samples for microbial, chemical, and physical hazards, coordinating with third-party labs as needed.
+ Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze food safety data, preparing detailed reports on findings, trends, and corrective actions.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on food safety regulations and ensure all processes align with FDA, USDA, and California state requirements.
+ Training and Education: Train staff on food safety protocols, including proper handling, sanitation, and allergen control.
+ Risk Assessment: Identify potential food safety risks and develop mitigation strategies to prevent contamination and recalls.
+ Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and compliance activities for audits and regulatory reviews.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with quality assurance, production, and supply chain teams to implement food safety improvements.
+ Incident Response: Investigate food safety incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
Logistics, Logistics & Distribution, Global Logistics, Coordinate Logistics, Supply Chain Logistics Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
+ Experience: 2-4 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role in the food industry. Experience in produce or perishable food processing is a plus.
+ Certifications: HACCP certification required; PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification preferred.
+ Knowledge: Strong understanding of FDA, USDA, and California food safety regulations, including FSMA and GAP standards.
+ Skills:
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, statistical software).
+ Strong communication skills for training and reporting.
+ Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
