The opportunity

Delaware North Travel is hiring full-time Prep Cooks and Cashiers to join our team at Detroit Airport in Detroit, Michigan. What will you do?Prepare food to specifications before and during unit operations, complying with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, and label, date, and wrap food products by ServSafe proceduresCommunicate with the chef for any instructions or trainingUphold all health codes and sanitation regulations and follow all safety, security, and kitchen proceduresMaintains food, utensils, and equipment in a clean and orderly mannerPerform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory according to guidelinesGreet customers warmly and provide assistance as neededProvide details on items for sale Participate in set-up, opening, and closing procedures, arrange inventory, and notify the supervisor of any inventory deficiency or shortagesRecord all transactions via the point of sale system and account for all transactionsBalance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shiftsReport any discrepancies or issues to management promptlyFollow all company policies and procedures related to cash handling and customer service

More about youPrevious cashier or retail experience preferred but not requiredBasic math skills and attention to detailAbility to read and comprehend prep sheets and follow instructionsAbility to stand for extended periods and handle busy checkout linesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCapacity to use kitchen tools safely, including knives and small equipment wareAccurately account for cash and inventory

Physical requirementsMust be able to lift 20 lbs or more, as well as stand and bend for long periods of timeManual ability to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and liquids and operate kitchen equipmentExposed to variable temperatures
