Food and Beverage Quality Assurance Technician
Job Description
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in the production and shipment of goods. This role involves performing daily quality assurance checks, managing product samples, and verifying production logs, all within standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices. The technician also assists in establishing quality standards and performs additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
+ Perform daily QA checks on finished products and shipped goods prior to loading.
+ Pull or ensure samples are obtained for required testing.
+ Manage product retainers and verify completeness of daily production logs.
+ Ensure all work is performed within standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
+ Assist in the establishment of quality standards.
+ Perform back-up duties for production personnel.
+ Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
+ Perform preventive maintenance on quality assurance equipment.
+ Calibrate scales and perform weight checks every 30 minutes and X-Ray checks every hour.
+ Navigate batch records and execute quality assurance goals and objectives on the production floor.
+ Evaluate QA processes for inbound raw materials and finished goods.
+ Collaborate with the management team to implement department improvements and maintain high-quality compliance.
+ Communicate with purchasing and compliance regarding testing processes.
+ Facilitate periodic quality meetings to discuss testing methods.
+ Validate quality processes and conduct periodic surveillance audits.
+ Investigate and follow up on customer complaints relating to quality.
+ Review certificates of analysis and raw criteria for batch records.
+ Ensure quality runs of inbound raw materials to specifications for batch.
+ Send out products and raw materials to third-party labs for testing.
+ Obtain air and water samples from the production floor and assist in validations.
Essential Skills
+ At least one year of quality assurance experience, preferably in Food and Beverage.
+ Experience with Batch Records and manual/computer documentation.
+ Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
+ Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
+ Working knowledge of PC, Microsoft Office, and Internet.
+ Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
+ Good attendance, personal hygiene, and communication skills.
+ Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
+ Ability to lead and manage others.
+ Understanding of equipment set-up, breakdown, cleaning/sanitizing, lockout and tagout procedures.
Work Environment
This position is set in a manufacturing environment where supplements are tested, produced, manufactured, and shipped. The work environment can be chaotic, requiring comfort with change and a fast-paced work ethic.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
