Who you are:

The Floor Manager at Muse Bistro + Bar is part of a dynamic management team that has a foundation of inspirational leadership and passion for excellence. Driving the business forward while overseeing a wide range of activities from day-to-day operations, staff training and guest engagement, you are ultimately responsible for leading the restaurant's daily success while upholding Muse Bistro + Bar’s brand image and values.

You are also responsible for ensuring the restaurant consistently delivers high-quality food and beverage products.  You will set the standard of guest satisfaction for the staff, exemplifying the expectations and service levels set for them.

Duties and responsibilities related to the Floor Manager role:

Orchestrating and follow up of the Muse steps of service ensuring profit and guest service score growth; Conducting training and development initiatives, as well as regular performance management and employee coaching; Communicating the Muse Playbook to all team members and leading by example; Demonstrating high personal integrity, business ethics, and taking every opportunity to promote the venue; and Greet guests and ensure a positive dining experience. Handle Guest complaints and resolve issues promptly. Monitor guest satisfaction and collect feedback. Supervise front-of-house staff (servers, hosts, bussers). Assign daily tasks and sections to team members. Monitor staff performance and provide guidance or coaching. Ensure staff follow service standards and grooming policies. Oversee daily floor operations during service hours. Ensure tables are turned efficiently and seating is optimized. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area. Ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and front of house. Handle voids, discounts, or comps as per policy. Monitor the POS system for order accuracy and speed. Ensure adequate stock of menus, cutlery, napkins, etc. Report low inventory or restocking needs to relevant to the restaurant General Manager. Coordinate with kitchen staff for timely order delivery. Communicate any special requests or allergy information accurately. Relay management updates, promotions, or specials to the team. Provide shift reports to upper management and lead pre and post shift team meetings. Report incidents, maintenance issues, or staff concerns Enforce health and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with local food and alcohol laws. Conduct floor checks to maintain hygiene and safety standards. Performing such other duties as assigned by management.

Competencies and Requirements:

Passion for Guest Experience: provides exemplary guest service and builds relationships with guests to set the standard for employees

Time Management: effectively manages time to achieve business goals while satisfying the guest service needs while leading with a hands-on approach

Communication: provides clean, open, and consistent communication with the guests and staff. Actively listens and receives feedback.

Problem-solving: responsive, calm, creative and flexible to ensure operations continue to run smoothly in the face of the unexpected.

Consistency: approachable by both employees and guests. Actions and reactions are consistent to create a safe and comfortable environment for employees and guests.

Organization: can effectively move between tasks and prioritize appropriately between execution, operational tasks, and cleanliness

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a full-service restaurant

Minimum 2 years’ experience at the management level preferred

Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: POS, inventory software, excel and word

Food Safety, Smart Serve and W.H.M.I.S. Certifications

Must be able to carry and lift items weighing 50lbs, must be able to stoop and bend

Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions

Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs

Must have current legal authorization to work in Canada.  Only candidates currently in the Toronto area will be considered.
