Summary
Reporting to the Flight Operations Manager, this role is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of Flight Test and department personnel. The Flight Test Supervisor ll provides daily tasks to all Flight Test Specialists, Flight Test Operators, and support technicians. This position requires coordination with the Program and Project Managers to schedule flight events, team resources and equipment. The Flight Test Supervisor provides continual feedback to the engineering team on product improvements, capabilities and enhancements. Will supervise a very dynamic flight schedule which often times operates untested experimental aircraft.
Position Responsibilities
Supervise Flight Test personnel’s Professional Development Program, Time Cards, formal and informal feedback sessionsResponsible for configuration management and application Factory Acceptance Flight TestingCommunicate Flight Test vision and foster continuous improvementEnsure team participation and promote the quality idealMaintains air vehicle proficiency on all new designs and derivativesResponsible for providing continual feedback to the engineering team on product improvements and capability enhancementsResponsible for documenting and streamlining flight test processesManage the local flying sites as well as scheduling ranges all over the United StatesCoordinate with program managers, project managers and engineering development teams for all verification flight testing needsCoordinate and schedule ranges with DOD and commercial facilitiesPlan and coordinate all local and off-site flight testing travel arrangements (DPG, El Centro, VAFB, etc.)Work with system test engineers to review and develop flight test plans for new product development verificationParticipate in FRACAS meetings as the Flight Test SME and ensure Flight Team implements new protocols derived from the FRACAS as applicableConduct investigation for any flight test incidenceTroubleshoot and repair flight test equipmentOther duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience in a flight test environmentSite Lead or other supervisory experience requiredProficiency in ERP systems such as Agile and OracleMust have or be able to obtain and maintain a current FAA part 107 SUAS LicenseExperience in scheduling and managing fast moving and dynamic flight operations scheduleUnderstanding of range scheduling/coordination with DOD and commercial facilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documenting, tracking, and presenting purposesExperience working in a Manufacturing setting where quality and process control was strictly enforcedHigh school diploma or GED requiredAbility to obtain government security clearanceTravel required within and outside the Continental U.S.Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

$78,986 - $112,035AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
