Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a major Satellite company. As part of the System Engineering Department, the Flight Software Architect will work with Satellite operations, Platform systems, subsystems, and payload engineers to define, organize, document flight software architectures, requirements and design to build robust real-time safety-critical flight software systems. In addition, the architect will also ensure the proper development process is in place in his team and will also oversee the implementation V&V, testing, and review of test artifacts.
Tasks:
The architect will perform and participate in the following tasks and activities.
Lead, define CONOPs & Analyze flight software requirements, design, integration, production, verification, validation, and certification (as needed).
Perform requirements Management and gap analysis with tools such as Windchill/Jama
Coordinate flight software issues and resolution across programs and vehicles.
Support prime contractor flight software architecture development, design, and implementation, integration SIL, HIL, and testing.
Analyze and evaluate integration of flight software in test and verification facilities
Define fault detection actions of the Satellite at the system and subsystem levels.
Work with the operations team to define the contingency scenarios involving FDIR.
Oversee the FDIR strategy ensuring compatibility with the programs
Work with the FSW team to determine the FDIR test plan on the FlatSat and DSS.
Work with the AI&T team to determine what FDIR needs to be tested at the spacecraft level.
Review FMECAs and provide feedback on the detection, isolation, and recovery of failures modes.
Liaise with Operations team for Ops Procedures, Manuals, and Satellite test procedures to ensure that the Operations documents and FDIR strategy are aligned.
Oversee design and delivery of the satellite Database team to the customers and SOCCs.
Review FDIR test artifacts with the team to troubleshoot how to resolve non compliances.
Develop the Verification & Validation Matrices for FSW & FDIR requirements.
Support the operations team as needed for In-Orbit Test (IOT), anomaly resolution + FDIR.
Support the ICD development activities both HW and SW/DB

Skills and Requirements
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer science or in a relevant field
At least 20 years of relevant practical experience Can be supplemented with higher degrees relevant to Engineering.
Previous experience with LEO/MEO satellite systems.
Strong cross-functional team collaboration and architecture definition.
Experience with analysis of satellite systems and subsystems.
Familiarity and/or experience with FMECAs and/or Fault Tree Analysis.
An understanding of how failures can propagate through a system.
Ability to decompose system level requirements to software requirements
Knowledge of satellite FSW and how monitors work for FDIR.
Knowledge of how to test HW and SW for FDIR. Previous experience in Constellation
Creation of Fault Trees and FMECAs
Experience with reliability analysis
Working knowledge of PUS services
Experience with mentoring junior engineers
Experience with FDIR on embedded systems
Knowledge of MS Excel, for the purposes of engineering analyses
Knowledge of requirements Management tools such as DOORS/Windchill/Jama
Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little to no supervision null
