Flight Nurse - Helicopter Service - PRN

Directs and guides patient and family education for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Cares for all types of patients with particular attention to the complex patient population, while maintaining professional nursing standards; (e.g., cardiac, multisystem failure, trauma patients). Practices nursing within the MercyOne - North Iowa professional nursing practice plan and is guided by Air Med protocols or direct medical control. Serves as a preceptor for new employees, students, and ride alongs. **What we are looking for:** Education: + Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa. + Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. + Will apply for MN Nursing licensure no later than 30 days after hire with full licensure obtained with 60 days. + Preferred Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN). + Holds current certification in CPR, ACLS, NRP, and PALS, or equivalent. Experience: + A minimum of 3 years experience in acute care setting (i.e., ICU, ER, etc.). + Previous Flight experience preferred. Special Skills and Competencies: + Obtains advanced certification as Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) within 2 years of hire. + Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs. + Self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision. + Maintains verification in CPR, ACLS, TPATC, NRP, and PALS. + Must be in excellent physical and mental health with full use of extremities and no back limitations with regard to lifting and moving. + Must provide proof of **Basic Life Support** (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment and maintains current status. + Completes **Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse** requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years. + Completes **Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)** – American Heart Association by time of hire and maintains current status. + Completes **Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)** – American Heart Association by time of hire and maintains current status. + Completes **Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)** – American Heart Association by time of hire and maintains current status. + Completes **Transport Professional Avanced Trauma Course (TPATC)** within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. + Completes Level II **Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management** class or equivalent within 3 months of hire, and annual skill validation for Cardiac Dysrhythmias (Does not apply to MFHL resource nurse functioning as a triage nurse only). + Completes Initial **Audiogram** with an annual test there after. + Must meet **weight limit of 225 pounds** at time of hire. **All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of references, background checks, pre-employment physical, drug screen and post offer exam.** **EEO Employer F/M/Veteran/Disabled** **In compliance with the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), VEVRAA, and Section 503, should you have a disability and would like to request an accommodation in order to apply for a currently open position with MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, please call Human Resources at (641) 428-7287 or email us at mc01hrrecruitment@mercyhealth.com** **​** **Our Commitment** Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
