Job Summary
Under general direction, is responsible for managing the replacement of equipment and accountability of equipment. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Work Hours
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions
+ Supervises the daily activities of assigned staff.
+ Assigns, coordinates, schedules, organizes and prioritizes staff assignments.
+ Oversees and coordinates all activities performed by staff related to the issuance and disposal of vehicles and equipment to include titles, licenses, inspections and vehicle data entry.
+ Makes recommendations to other City departments related to equipment specifications.
+ Coordinates equipment requirements or shortages, problems or questions from customers and vendors.
+ Coordinates disposition for new and used equipment.
+ Inspects equipment and verifies specifications.
+ Monitors and evaluates improvements to equipment and initiates modifications.
+ Tabulates and reviews bids and submits recommendations.
+ Receives, approves and processes invoices for payment.
+ Assists with budget preparation.
+ Maintains equipment specification and technical reference library.
+ Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
+ Three years (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the preparation of specifications for procurement of automobiles, heavy trucks, and construction equipment to include one (1) year of supervisory responsibility.
+ Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
+ Relevant experience with fleet management or maintenance, or inventory management.
+ Relevant experience in equipment procurement, managing vendors or contracts.
+ Technical knowledge of vehicle and equipment product lines.
Applicant Information
+ Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

+ Knowledge of purchasing procedures and bid evaluation methods.
+ Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management.
+ Knowledge of principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
+ Knowledge of general automotive principles.
+ Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
+ Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
+ Ability to prepare equipment specifications, bids and contracts.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
+ Ability to make independent investigations and exercise analytical judgement in recommending changes in vehicle and equipment specifications.
+ Ability to coordinate the receipt, preparation and issue of vehicles and equipment
