A flagger is a trained and certified professional responsible for directing traffic around construction, road maintenance, or utility work zones to ensure the safety of workers and the public. Key duties include using stop/slow paddles and flags to stop, slow, and redirect vehicles, setting up cones and barriers, communicating clearly with drivers and construction crews, maintaining situational awareness, and strictly adhering to safety protocols in often fast-paced, high-risk environments.

**Pay Rate:**

**What you'll be doing as a** **Flagger** **:**
+ Traffic Control
+ Safely stop, slow, or reroute vehicles and pedestrians through work zones using appropriate signaling devices
+ Equipment & Setup
+ Position and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers to guide traffic and create a safe work zone
+ Communication
+ Provide clear, firm, and courteous instructions to drivers and communicate effectively with construction crews to coordinate traffic flow
+ Safety and Awareness
+ Continuously monitor the work zone and approaching traffic for hazards, enforce safety rules, and maintain a high level of situational awareness
+ Incident Response
+ Quickly and appropriately respond to emergencies, collisions, equipment failures, or other unexpected events
+ Work Zone Maintenance
+ Assist with setting up and taking down lane closures and other traffic control measures

**Job requirements:**
+ Certification:
+ Must be certified through a recognized program, such as the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)
+ Communication:
+ Must be able to give clear, firm, and courteous instructions to drivers and coordinate with colleagues
+ Situational Awareness:
+ Ability to remain alert and observe surroundings, anticipating driver behavior and potential hazards
+ Physical Stamina:
+ Ability to stand for extended periods in various weather conditions, sometimes lifting moderate weights
+ Problem-Solving:
+ Ability to make quick decisions and adapt to changing conditions in a dynamic environment
+ Teamwork:
+ Capable of working independently or as part of a team to ensure smooth and safe operations
+ Reliability:
+ Dependable and responsible individual committed to safety
+ Work Environment
+ Flaggers primarily work outdoors at construction and maintenance sites
+ They must be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions and on various roadways, including highways
+ The role requires frequent contact with traffic and carries inherent safety risks
+ Must have ATSSA flagger certification-we will provide training for this certification
+ Osha 10 preferred
+ Background check and drug screening required
