4 Year Degree The College of Saint Mary is looking for a head coach to start a varsity women's flag football program beginning competition in the 2026-27 season.

Summary/Objective

The Head Coach position will oversee all aspects of operating a successful collegiate team.  The position’s primary purpose is the successful recruitment and development of student-athletes who commit to the College, while also managing the daily operations of the sport program throughout the academic year.

Essential Functions

Successful recruitment of quality student-athletes to meet required roster target goals. Maintaining an 80% student-athlete retention rate, with the exception of graduating seniors. Monitor academic progress of the team to ensure a minimum 3.0 team is maintained per academic semester. Successfully managing within operational budget guidelines for regular season as well as post-season qualification. Coordinate all press releases, social media communication, publications data, and other program information with the Sports Information Director. Consistent notification of statistical and game information to the Sports Information Director.  Regular review of the CSM Athletics website for your sport and alert Sports Information Director of needed changes. Compile and maintain athletic game statistics/records and keep an accurate historical record of the sport. Completion of required paperwork and nomination forms in timely manner to specific deadlines (official roster, eligibility forms, honors, etc.). Attend all scheduled full-staff athletic meetings and required GPAC coaches meetings. Maintain active membership and involvement in appropriate college coaching association. Complete all NAIA required coaching education. Encourage, support and promote department or campus related fundraising events. Develop and implement team fundraising campaigns with approval from the Director of Athletics. Coordinate of all phases of a successful intercollegiate athletic team including; recruiting scheduling, practice planning, ordering equipment/uniforms maintaining equipment and preparation of the next academic year’s operating budget. Manage and mentors assistant coaches. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

History of successful management of operating budgets

Ability to fairly and effectively assess the ongoing recruitment of new students and player development of current team roster to create a competitive collegiate athletic program.

Financial Responsibility/Consequence of Actions:

Oversight of team operational and fundraising club accounts Proper reconciliation of monthly credit card expenditure statements

Contacts:

The Head Coach position is key to maintaining positive partnerships with internal and external stakeholder of CSM and Flames Athletics.

Work Environment

This Head Coach position will operate in a professional office environment with possibility of working in outside conditions where weather variables are unpredictable based on the months of the calendar year.

Physical Demands

The demands of the Head Coach position will vary based on the specific sport. In most cases the Head Coaching role will have hands-on instruction which will require physical activity due to the nature of the sport and instruction.

Travel

The position will require travel to away competitions and in some cases will also require driving to away competition in college approved vehicle(s). Traveling may occurred based on specific sport recruiting events and/or prospective recruit scouting and/or signings.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study and three years of successful coaching experience at the College level or five years at the high school and/or club level(s).

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in an appropriate field of study and five years of successful coaching experience at the College level.

 Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Appropriate certifications and/or coaching education within the officially recognized sport association.
