Fixed Wing Aviation Maintenance Technician
Overview History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. Superior Air Med / Superior Ambulance Aviation provides aeromedical services for Superior Ambulance. We are seeking an Aviation Maintenance Technician based out of West Chicago, IL (KDPA) to support our CAMTS-accredited fixed wing air ambulance operations in two Learjet 45XRs. Our mission profile includes 24/7 operations for organ recovery, medical patient transport, and corporate travel. Aviation Maintenance Technicians will report to Jet Logistics, Inc., the FAA Part 135 certificate holder for Superior’s fixed wing operations. Responsibilities Report to the Lead FW Aviation Maintenance Technician, Director of Maintenance (DM), and Director of Aviation Services. Take ownership and responsibility over the upkeep of each assigned aircraft. Perform daily duties to support operational readiness and reduce unplanned maintenance downtime. Perform aircraft maintenance including inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft, airframe, engines, avionics, cabin materials and appliances in accordance with operator procedures, aircraft inspection programs, manufacturer documentation, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies, and other approved data sources. Complete tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or designee. Report and record discrepancies that are discovered during maintenance and inspections. Maintain availability while on call to respond to AOG events in a timely manner. Communicate, plan, and coordinate the schedule of maintenance with the Lead FW AMT and DM, considering factors such as operational readiness, availability of equipment, tools, parts and supplies, and job requirements. Communicate current status of the aircraft, maintenance procedures, and forecasted downtime with the Lead FW AMT, operator (DM or designee), and Director of Aviation Services. Communicate with pilots about the condition of the aircraft, trending issues, recent maintenance, and systems troubleshooting. Communicate with manufacturers, repair centers, technical specialists, other vendors and AMTs to troubleshooting discrepancies, schedule maintenance, order parts, and obtain quotes. Order, track, inspect, pickup/dropoff and ship inventory, parts and supplies. Maintain aircraft, facilities, inventory, equipment, and tools to company standards, including aircraft/base cleanliness, inventory shelf life monitoring, and tool calibration. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with applicable regulations and operator procedures. Maintain knowledge and proficiency in MEL procedures. Maintain proficiency in accordance with 14CFR Part 65, Part 135, and operator policies and procedures (GOM/GMM). Complete company and operator required training as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
