Fixed Assets Accountant
Description Client in Plano is seeking an interim Fixed Assets Accountant for the next 1-2 months. Job duties for this role include the following: • Generate purchase orders (PO’s) and process invoices for capital expenditures on a timely basis • Help keep capital projects within budget through accurate and timely tracking of all capital expenditures • Develop a working understanding of the various sales tax laws and variables (i.e.: sales tax vs. use tax; different sales tax rates per county; different sales tax laws per state) • Help maintain capital expenditure cash flow and contingency spending on capital projects by timely tracking of all expenditures • Work cross-functionally with Project Managers to close completed projects in a timely manner • Complete month-end close duties within the timeframes established including running depreciation, accruals and month end reports • Reconciling the fixed asset register with the general ledger, investigating and resolving any discrepancies • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including roll-forward, CIP, capitalized interest, and depreciation expense. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as internal reporting metrics • Budgeting and Forecasting Depreciation: Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities. Collaborate with various departments to gather data, analyze budget variances, and provide accurate and insightful reports • Audit Support: Assist in coordinating and providing support for external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules. Address audit queries and ensure timely completion of audit • Assist the F/A Manager with any special projects as they relate to fixed assets or capital spending Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. • Knowledge of basic accounting principles is necessary and prior experience with capital projects or fixed assets accounting is a plus • Experience with ERP systems (lnfor M3 experience is highly desirable) • Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, along with strong overall PC skills, including effective e-mail communication (both internally and externally). • Either have or quickly develop a strong working knowledge of the BNA Fixed Asset • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of company personnel, and also with outside vendors and contractors.
