This is a wonderful way to share your knowledge with the community and work with many diverse types of medical conditions that other fitness centers normally do not see. The Fitness Specialist supports daily operations at the Smart Gym by facilitating safe, effective fitness activities and programs. This role engages patients, employees, and community members in achieving health and wellness goals through structured fitness education and support.
A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts, 8:00am—2:00pm or 12:00pm—7:00pm w/ some weekend requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Supervise and guide exercise activities in a safe, motivating environment
Monitor participants during workouts to ensure proper technique and safety
Deliver and assist with group fitness classes (as needed)
Create and implement incentive programs to drive gym engagement and
retention
Educate members on class formats, purpose, and expected outcomes
Support departmental projects and additional duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
1 year experience in a fitness center environment
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong understanding of exercise safety, program design, and goal setting
Can engage and motivate individuals of diverse fitness levels
Knowledge of health promotion and wellness programming
Critical thinking and independently and as part of a team
Flexibility in a fast-pace or evolving environment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Health Science, or related field
First Aid Certification
ACE (American Council on Exercise) or CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification
Background in program development, group fitness, or exercise testing

Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
