We are hiring a First Line Supervisor - Tyvek® Spinning.

DuPont is currently seeking a First Line Supervisor that will be accountable to meet shift performance expectations and provide administrative people leadership for shift team members. The First Line Supervisors (FLS) will work with the Activity Coordinator Gatekeeper to coordinate shift activities in an optimal manner. Works with team members to ensure maintenance/service requests are accurate and appropriate and makes appropriate adjustments to the planning and scheduling of operational activities off-hours.  Coordinates with Activity Coordinator during normal hours.  Coordinates beginning and end of shift activities to ensure smooth transition.  Ensures sufficient scheduling/resources to operate plant, including overtime, changing work schedules, and prioritization of work.

The schedule is a 12-hour rotating shift (switching between days & nights)

7 am – 7 pm & 7 pm – 7 am

Your Key Responsibilities:

Drives operating discipline throughout the shift to ensure safety and production goals are met:

Accountable to drive adherence to EH&S standards, policies and procedures.

Accountable to meet shift performance expectations such as production (net pack pounds) per the schedule and drive corrective actions to all failures when the performance is not met.

Provide regular performance management discussions for direct reports to support meaningful opportunities for leader/employee engagement.  This includes coaching and career development as well as disciplinary action. 

Maintain a strong connection with the team fostering an empowered organization. Show appreciation for employees and maintain a servant leadership mindset. 

Keep active field presence and assesses work activities routinely to maintain awareness of plant needs and understanding of personnel behaviors.

Perform regular safety and housekeeping audits for the team members’ areas of responsibility.

Perform root cause investigations for incidents that occur on the shift. 

Coach team members on value assessment and prioritization of tasks and service requests and on the application of the Operations Dashboard (OPD) Task List and Logbook. 

Work with team members to ensure maintenance service requests are value added with clearly defined scopes, adequate troubleshooting information and properly entered into the appropriate system. 

Work with team members to make appropriate adjustments to the planning and scheduling of operational activities during off-hours and coordinate with Activity Coordinator Gatekeeper during normal hours; as required, provide coverage for the Activity Coordinator Gatekeeper

Perform appropriate on-shift activities applicable to the Gatekeeper role during off-hours related to routing maintenance service requests originating within the plant to the appropriate work group or service provider. 

Act as on-shift liaison to support functions for general activities and coordinates those interactions and related activities for the team during off-hours. 

Review and coordinate permitting and authorization of High Risk Activities being performed in the area.

Determine if plans and/or procedures are required for service requests during off hours

Coordinate and verify purging and lockouts of HHP equipment in preparation for maintenance activities.

Review work status with maintenance service providers and originators during off-hours and coordinate with Activity Coordinator Gatekeeper during normal hours. 

Ensure the OPD Task List and Logbook are updated/adjusted as required. 

Ensure "beginning and end of shift" activities are completed (as per LSW) to enable effective shift-change according to plant specific requirements related to Communication, Metrics, Shift Change Protocol, Task Assignment & Prioritization, etc. 

Ensure sufficient shift team staffing to safely operate the plant, i.e. scheduling of overtime, working with shift team to change work schedule, facilitates shift team to adjust priority and/or rescheduling of tasks, utilizing other available resources as needed, etc.

Understand customer needs and drive high levels of quality, responsiveness, and reliability for the customer. 

Confirm appropriate overtime requests are communicated to other shift leaders and canvass for overtime to ensure minimum staffing is met at all times.

Responsible to review the training requirements of team members are completed on time (e.g. iLearn, HRAs, WebMOC acknowledgements, etc.)

Review and authorize Work Authorization permits for maintenance and contract service providers working in the area.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Trade certification preferred

3-5 years of manufacturing or related experience preferred

Tyvek® experience strongly preferred

Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process) experience preferred
