Job Summary:
The First Line Supervisor manages a team of batch process operators to manufacture polyimide resin. Key responsibilities include managing shift activities, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, supporting maintenance activities, championing process safety activities, and ensuring training and qualification of operations personnel.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise chemical process operators. Hold team members accountable for safety, behavior, performance, and quality. Address personnel issues on shift effectively.Develop and maintain weekly production schedule. Plan shift activities and resources to optimize performance in line with production goals.Provide first level escalation for operators when production issues are encountered. Actively coach and teach operators during troubleshooting activities.Act as operations focal point for maintenance activities. Work with the Maintenance Coordinator to set priorities and schedule for area. Prepare equipment for maintenance including process shutdown, lockout, issuing permits, and return to operation.Develop and maintain operator training materials and qualification assessments. Coordinate new operator training and perform operator training for process and procedure changes.Partner with area engineers to resolve problems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that area goals are achieved.Document and complete administrative requirements timely and effectively.Create, review, modify, and approve operating procedures to ensure sound operational discipline.Perform or assist in process related root cause/failure analysis, 1st Party Audits, and Job Cycle Checks. Leverage and communicate the results to operations personnel for learning purposes.Lead housekeeping and 5S initiatives.Education & Experience:
Required:
5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.High school diploma required.Excellent communication skillsStrong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications and SAP.Able to provide coverage on weekends and holidays as scheduled. Able to work overtime as needed. 12-hour shift – day shift.Preferred:
