You Are:

UST is seeking a seasoned System Validation SME to lead complex validation initiatives across cutting-edge platform technologies. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in platform validation, system bring-up, performance/stress testing, and failure triage for server or client-class hardware.

 

The opportunity:

·       Perform platform-level validation activities for firmware, BIOS, drivers, and silicon interfaces.

·       Define validation strategy, develop test plans, and oversee execution for pre-production platforms.

·       Perform hands-on bring-up, testbed setup, and debug using tools such as serial consoles, event logs, and hardware probes.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BIOS/FW, HW, driver, OS) for issue triage, isolation, and closure.

·       Drive validation for features such as suspend/resume, thermal throttling, USB/display/storage interface compliance, and power metrics.

·       Mentor junior engineers and drive quality improvement initiatives across the validation process.

·       Generate reports, dashboards, and failure summaries for executive and engineering consumption.

 

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

 

What you need:

·       Education:

•                 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

·       Required Skills:

•                 5+ years of experience in system validation, embedded platform testing, or BIOS/FW validation.

•                 Strong understanding of x86 architecture, board-level components, and silicon bring-up flow.

•                 Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for test automation and log parsing.

•                 Hands-on experience with validation frameworks, failure reproduction, and debugging tools.

•                 Familiarity with test suites like Windows HLK, internal diagnostics, or functional stress tools.

•                 Excellent communication skills and ability to drive collaboration across engineering domains.

·       Desired Skills:

•                 Experience working with Microsoft Surface, Windows-based client systems, or embedded hardware.

•                 Understanding of Azure DevOps and CI/CD integration with validation workflows.

•                 Prior exposure to HW/FW co-validation or silicon validation programs.

 

 

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Remote

Compensation Range: $75,000-$113,000

 

 

 

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
