Job Title: Firmware Engineer

Job Description

This role involves migrating existing embedded firmware from a legacy Microchip development environment to MPLAB X IDE, Microchip's modern, supported integrated development environment.

Responsibilities

Port all existing source code, libraries, and configurations to be fully compatible with MPLAB X IDE.Replace or refactor any dependencies, build tools, or features that are not supported in MPLAB X.Validate full functionality and performance on current hardware platforms.Audit and document current firmware environment including toolchains, dependencies, and compiler settings.Set up and configure MPLAB X development environment, toolchains, and project structure.Migrate source code and resolve any compatibility issues.Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure firmware behaves identically post-migration.Provide documentation and knowledge transfer for ongoing maintenance.Essential SkillsExperience in firmware development.Proficiency in Embedded C and Embedded Software.Knowledge of microcontrollers and RTOS.Experience with C/C++ programming languages.Familiarity with MPLAB IDE.Experience in porting IDEs.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Linux, ARM, and device drivers is advantageous.Strong technical documentation skills.Work EnvironmentThe work environment involves using MPLAB X IDE for firmware development. The role requires meticulous attention to detail in setting up and configuring the development environment. It involves collaboration with teams to ensure successful migration and functionality validation on current hardware platforms. The dress code is casual, and the work hours are flexible to accommodate project needs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
