FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC)

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC) in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER. Responsibilities You will use fire prevention techniques, fire safety for inspection of buildings and spill response. You will act as the driver/operator of an emergency response pumper/ladder, brush fire fighting, ambulance, hazardous material response, or other rescue vehicle as required. You will perform through safety and maintenance inspections on emergency transport vehicles, providing first echelon maintenance repairs as required. You will conduct a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of their condition ad searches for alert symbols. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a Firefighter AND Paramedic providing fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency operations; responding to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team and/or a Rescue Team with associated vehicle and equipment. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Condition of Employment Continued FIREFIGHTER I and FIREFIGHTER II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL OPERATIONS by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Hazardous Material Operations Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification Emergency Medical Technician Certification Paramedic-Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications This position has a maximum entry age of 37. Candidates that will be older than 37 at the time of appointment will require an age waiver.
